It is not permissible for a Muslim to seek forgiveness for ancestors who died upon shirk (associating partners with Allah)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 11248 ):
Q: I have ancestors who died upon shirk (associating partners with Allah). Is it permissible for me to seek forgiveness for them or not?
A: It is not permissible for a Muslim to seek forgiveness for his ancestors or for anyone else if they died upon shirk (associating partners with Allah); because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire.
[At-Tawbah 9:113]
. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
