The third question of Fatwa No. ( 6477 ):
Q3: Some people told me: "There is (Wahhabism)." I said to them: "There is no (Wahhabism); rather, it is a term the Sharifs used to keep people away from the reformist call. But one of them said to me: Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab (may Allah have mercy on him) was indeed a religious reformer, but he deviated in the last part of his life, where he rejected some authentic Prophetic hadiths because they did not agree with his opinion. What is your statement?
A3: Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab (may Allah have mercy on him) is among the greatest callers to the Salafi methodology and sound creed and the correct path, and his books (may Allah have mercy on him) are full of that. And what you mentioned, that one of the opponents of his call told you: Shaykh
deviated in the last part of his life, where he rejected some authentic hadiths because they did not agree with his opinion — that is a lie and a slander against the Shaykh. He died being among the most respectful of the Sunnah and accepting of it, indeed calling to it, (may Allah have mercy on him). And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
