Leaving off prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: During my youth, I sometimes prayed and sometimes left off the prayer, while maintaining the Friday prayer. However, for the past three years or so, I have started maintaining all the prayers, with great regret for my previous negligence, and I am making up what I missed. For example, I pray Fajr as four rak'ahs: two as the current obligatory prayer, and two as making up for a missed one, in addition to the two rak'ahs of the recommended practice, and so on for the other obligatory prayers. Is this practice of mine correct, or is there something else required of me?

Answer: First: Laziness in prayer and negligence regarding it is a very serious and heinous matter.

Second: We thank Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for bestowing upon you repentance and regret for what happened. It is obligatory for every Muslim, when he commits a sin, to repent to Allah with a valid repentance. Allah accepts the repentance of those who repent and forgives all sins, and repentance annuls what came before it. So praise be to Allah who has bestowed upon you repentance, and we ask Him for steadfastness in the truth for us and for you.
The Shaykh : As for the issue of making up missed prayers, the correct view is that one who intentionally leaves off the prayer commits disbelief by doing so;As he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Between the servant and disbelief or shirk (associating partners with Allah) is abandoning prayerبين العبد وبين الكفر أو الشرك ترك الصلاة
Since you have repented to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and maintained the prayers, this is sufficient, and there is no obligation upon you to make up the missed prayers according to the correct view, and Allah the Exalted knows best.
