What is the ruling on treating a person possessed by jinn with the Noble Qur'an?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh: And upon you peace.

The questioner : Regarding the matter of jinn possessing a human being and treating it with ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation) from the Noble Qur'an; what is the ruling of Islam in this regard?

The Shaykh : If the matter is limited to ruqyah, it is a good deed. If the matter is limited to ruqyah, it is a recommended practice (sunnah). However, if the jinn is addressed, questioned, and interrogated, that is clear misguidance.

The questioner : That is, if you recite the Noble Qur'an over him. And the book for praising Shaykh Abu Bakr al-Jaza'iri, in which he narrates: "If you address him with the Noble Qur'an, starting with the prescribed adhan (call to prayer), you recite the prescribed adhan, Surat al-Fatihah, and verses from Surat al-Baqarah."

Another questioner : Peace be upon you, how are you?

The Shaykh: And upon you peace.

Another questioner : If Allah wills, well?

The Shaykh : By Allah, praise be to Allah, I am fine.

The questioner : So, is there any evidence for this?

The Shaykh : I told you; if it is limited to reciting the Qur'an, it is a good deed. Anything other than that is contrary to the Sunnah.
