Reading the Noble Qur'an
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I am a person who loves reading the Noble Qur'an very much, but I am not proficient in reading it regarding the places of pausing, the elongation of vowels, and other such matters. Sometimes I pronounce some words incorrectly, but I know their meanings, meaning that nothing changes in the meaning. I strive hard in this regard, and also, at times, I read words
whose meanings I do not understand. What should I do? Please advise us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: The Muslim should learn the Qur'an and strive to recite it correctly as much as he is able to do so. This is by learning from reciters and listening to reciters so that he benefits from their recitation and corrects any errors he has. If the Muslim strives to receive the Qur'an and read it, he will be successful, if Allah wills.
As for the issue of a person reading the Qur'an while he is not proficient in reading, there is nothing wrong with that. He reads according to his ability and his capacity, but he should not stop at this limit. Rather, as we mentioned, he must always try to correct his recitation and present it to the reciters so that he benefits from them and corrects any errors he has. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the one who reads the Qur'an and stumbles over it, and it is difficult for him: He has two rewards. This indicates that the Muslim should always try to read the Qur'an and not give up on it. If he tries and persists in that, Allah will make the reading of the Qur'an correctly easy for him.As Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Qamar: 17] .
So you must strive to recite the Qur'an and master the reading, and Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will make it easy for you.
