I had my name entered as a partner in the school cafeteria, and when the time for distributing profits arrived, they included my name, but I was certain that I had not participated with them. What is the ruling?

The questioner: I mean, tell me the exact situation that happened!

The Shaykh: What is this situation?!

The questioner: The question, I mean.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner: Our Shaykh, the students pay ten qirsh to the cafeteria at the beginning of the year!

The Shaykh: What is the cafeteria again?

The questioner: The school cafeteria.

Another questioner: A cafeteria.

The Shaykh: A cafeteria, understood to be like a dance hall in weight and meaning!

The questioner: Like a restaurant.

Another questioner: I mean, they collect this money and buy with it and trade with it!

The Shaykh : Yes.

The Shaykh: They understood that my name is registered in the cafeteria, so now they want to give me the profits on the basis that I paid ten qirsh, and I am certain that I did not pay, but they say to me: We are also certain that you paid, for if you had not paid, we would not have written your name. So what is the ruling?

The Shaykh: This is my sister Huda, if they give it to you willingly, may Allah reward them, even if you have no right to it. And if the matter is that you might have forgotten, then it is more fitting that it be given to you, do you understand? If you did not put it in and they gave it to you willingly from their side, it is lawful, and if you did put it in, it is even more lawful.
