Prayer in Tight and Thin Clothing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is it permissible for a woman to pray in trousers, and for a man as well? Also, if a woman wears a thin garment that does not reveal her 'awrah (part of the body that must be covered), what is the ruling of the Shari'ah (Islamic sacred law) in that case? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with all good?

Answer: Tight clothing that outlines the body parts, and outlines the size of a woman and her buttocks and the contours of her limbs, is not permissible to wear. Likewise, it is not permissible for men to wear such clothing, but the prohibition is more severe for women; because the fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) caused by them is more severe.
As for the prayer itself, if a person prays and his 'awrah (part of the body that must be covered) is covered, then his prayer is valid in itself due to the covering of the 'awrah (part of the body that must be covered). However, the one who prays in tight clothing commits a sin; because he may compromise something of the conditions of the prayer due to the tightness of the clothing. This is from one aspect. The second aspect, as we mentioned, is that tightness outlines the body parts and becomes a cause of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) and draws attention to it, especially for the woman. It is obligatory for her to cover herself with a loose, wide garment that covers her and does not outline any part of her body, and does not draw attention to her. It should not be a thin or transparent garment either, but rather a covering garment that covers the woman completely, so that nothing of her body is seen. It should not be short, exposing her legs, or her arms, or her hands. She should not also be uncovered in her face, exposing her face, but rather she should cover her entire body. It should not be transparent such that her body or her color is seen through it, for this is not considered a covering garment. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed in the authentic hadith, saying:
Two categories of my Ummah (the Muslim community) whom I have not seen: men with whips like the tails of cattle, with which they strike people, and women who are clothed yet naked, leaning and causing others to lean, who will not smell the scent of Paradiseصنفان من أمتي لم أرهما: رجال معهم سياط كأذناب البقر يضربون بها الناس، ونساء كاسيات عاريات مائلات مميلات لا يجدن رائحة الجنة
, or as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said.

The meaning of "clothed": That they are wearing something of clothing, but in reality they are naked; because these clothes do not cover, so they are merely formal clothes, but they do not cover
what is behind them, either due to their transparency, or due to their shortness and not being loose on the body.
So it is obligatory for Muslim women to be aware of that.
