The Ruling on a Woman Wearing Tight Clothing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Does Your Eminence the Shaykh advise regarding these clothes that reveal the contours of the body, which have spread even to the rural areas?

Answer:
Yes, it is obligatory to take care to cover the body with ample, loose clothing that covers the body and does not cling to it. Tight clothing is not permissible because it reveals the 'awrah (part of the body that must be covered) in reality. Tight clothing that reveals the size of the 'awrah is not permissible. However, the clothing should be moderate: not so loose that it reveals the 'awrah, and not so tight that it reveals the 'awrah, but rather in the middle. This is the prescribed middle path in all matters. It should not be tight clothing that reveals the size of the limbs, nor loose clothing from which the arm or the leg might be seen. Rather, it should cover her feet, legs, and hands, and her head and face should be covered with a covering garment that is not thin and not short. It should be from the thick, covering garments that cover the entire body, because the woman's 'awrah is her 'awrah. Yes.
