Continuation of the explanation of the state of the scholars of India and Pakistan regarding the science of hadith and the Salafi call.

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed; and for that reason, the scholars of India among these people paid great attention to some of my writings that involve authenticating and weakening hadiths. I say that the joy of the people of hadith there at the books that reached them, which contained authentication and weakening, was very great, and especially *Al-Mishkat*, although it is not comprehensive, because *Al-Mishkat* is one of the books they rely on and teach to their students and in their universities. As you know, in its original form, it does not address distinguishing the authentic from the weak. So they were studying *Al-Mishkat*, and when this copy came to them with much clarification, their joy was very great. Likewise, *Al-Silsilah al-Sahihah* and *Al-Silsilah al-Da'ifah*. Despite the distance, the remoteness of their homes, and the lack of commercial book trade between us and them, they are very eager to obtain these books whenever they travel to Makkah by way of Hajj and 'Umrah. This is part of the impact of the Salafi call among the Islamic lands. Our Indian brothers are influenced by the call and by hadith, but they lack what I mentioned first, and they do not adopt the Salafi call in its comprehensive meaning fully. You may find, for example, someone among them who commits religious innovation, and he is from the people of hadith. Why? Because he takes the generality of a hadith. For example, he approves of the imam's supplication after the prayer with the congregation. They do not have the jurisprudence that helps them understand that what the Messenger of Allah left of the acts of worship, its leaving is a recommended practice. They do not have this aspect. Also, when we would gather there in the seasons of Hajj and 'Umrah, we would find them arguing with weak, defective hadiths and arguing with a hadith that does not indicate their argument, because they did not study hadith with broad, general jurisprudence. Add to that that most of them, except for some of their scholars who have merit, do not have the aptitude in the Arabic language that helps them in correct understanding. This is what comes to my mind in answering that question.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And beware of that.
