Is there a difference between the desert and buildings regarding the issue of facing the qiblah while urinating or defecating?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah preserve you. Is it established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he drank while standing and drank from the well of Uthman?

The Shaykh : Of course, it is established that he drank while standing, not only in one instance, but in several narrations. However, as we discussed in the issue before we prayed 'Isha', regarding facing the qiblah with urine or feces, there are hadiths, some of which are in "al-Sahihayn": "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade facing the qiblah with urine or feces." Among these is the hadith of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, agreed upon by the two Shaykhs:
When you go to relieve yourselves, do not face the qiblah with urine or feces, but face east or west. إذا أتيتم الغائط فلا تستقبلوا القبلة ببول أو غائط ، ولكن شرِّقوا أو غرِّبوا
Of course, "face east or west" refers to Medina. Its narrator, Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, said: "Then we came to Sham and found the latrines facing the qiblah; so we seek forgiveness from Allah."
The narrator of the hadith believes that there is no difference in this ruling, regarding the prohibition of facing the qiblah with urine or feces, between the desert and buildings. Some scholars, both past and present, have distinguished between them, permitting it in buildings and restricting the hadith to the desert. We have discussed this topic in some detail.
