Is it permissible to combine the intention of the 'aqiqah with the 'Id sacrifice for one who is unable to perform the 'aqiqah for his children?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A man was unable to perform the 'aqiqah for his children, whether male or female. Then the festival of sacrifice came, and he sacrificed the 'Id animal and combined the intention of the 'aqiqah with the 'Id sacrifice. Is that permissible? May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : If I were to answer you briefly, the answer is: it is not permissible. The details vary according to the opinions of the scholars. For one who holds that the 'aqiqah is a recommended practice and the 'Id sacrifice is a recommended practice, the ruling follows the detail we mentioned regarding fasting six days of Shawwal; that is, if he sacrifices and intends the 'aqiqah, he is credited with the reward of the 'Id sacrifice plus the intention of the 'aqiqah. This is for the one who holds that both the 'Id sacrifice and the 'aqiqah are recommended practices. As for one who holds, as I do, that both the 'Id sacrifice and the 'aqiqah are obligatory, an obligatory act does not suffice for another obligatory act. Therefore, he must perform the 'aqiqah and he must perform the 'Id sacrifice. This is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
