The Shaykh gave two examples of mawquf hadiths, one of which has the ruling of marfu' and the other does not.

The Shaykh : To clarify this rule with the condition mentioned, it is necessary to give two examples: one of a hadith mawquf upon a Companion that is in the ruling of marfu', and the other mawquf upon a Companion but not in the ruling of marfu' for the reason mentioned earlier. The first: Al-Hakim narrated in his *Mustadrak* and other scholars of hadith from Ibn Abbas, who said: "The Qur'an was sent down to the lowest heaven in the House of Glory as a single unit, then it was sent down in pieces according to events." As you see here in terms of narration, it is said that Ibn Abbas said this, but this is what is said to be in the ruling of marfu'. Why? First, because it speaks about the descent of the Qur'an, which is pure unseen knowledge that is not known except by the one to whom it was revealed, namely our Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Second, it provides details that confirm there is no room for the mind to wander in, which is his saying: These are details that the human mind can never fully comprehend, and therefore the scholars said: this is mawquf in the ruling of marfu'. As for the second example, which is not suitable to be in the ruling of marfu', it is what is mentioned in the tafsir of Ibn Jarir and others in their interpretation of the statement of Allah the Exalted regarding Sulayman: [Sad 38:34] Is this the verse? They said: The body that was thrown onto the throne of Sulayman is Satan in this context. Why? He said: Satan was thrown onto the throne of Sulayman to rule in his place and to manage the kingdom of Sulayman (peace be upon him), in which he controlled both humans and jinn, as is well known in the Noble Qur'an. And where was Sulayman? To complete this false story—and this is known among the common people in our region of Sham, I do not know, by Allah, in other countries—they say: The kingdom of Sulayman was in his ring. So one day he entered the restroom, took off the ring, and gave it to his wife, whose name was perhaps Jaradah, as they claim. So Satan—and this is another calamity—came disguised in the attire of Sulayman (peace be upon him), took the ring from her, and put the ring on his finger. So the kingdom of Sulayman submitted to him, and he sat on his throne. This is undoubtedly from the Isra'iliyyat, and it is not fitting to attribute any of it to a righteous, believing man, let alone to a noble Prophet, the son of a noble Prophet, Sulayman ibn Dawud (peace and blessings be upon them both).
The Noble Qur'an was sent down as a single unit to the House of Glory in the lowest heaven.
