The Shaykh : As for the thirteenth hadith, it is authentic, and it is his saying:
And from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:Sahih al-Bukhari 6450 And in a narration: Sahih al-Bukhari 5421 It was narrated by al-Bukhari.
Anas says:Sahih al-Bukhari 6450 meaning: on a table with legs raised from the ground. The Messenger (peace be upon him) used to eat on a spread cloth, much like many Muslims in Arab countries still do, who spread a carpet, sit on the ground, and gather around the food. This is how the Messenger (peace be upon him) used to eat on a spread cloth, and he did not eat on a raised table. It is permissible to say "khuwan" as well, as the majority of people do today. This should be taken as a lesson and as a Sunnah for us. We do not say that it is not permissible to eat on a raised table or a table, but we say that it is contrary to the practice of the Messenger (peace be upon him), which indicates humility. So whoever among us is able to eat on the ground on a spread cloth should do so, and not eat on a table, especially since eating on a table has become a Western custom adopted and accepted by the masses of Muslims, so it has become their custom, contrary to the custom of their Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), about which Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) informs us in this hadith of his.
Sahih al-Bukhari 6450 explained This is also from his life (peace and blessings be upon him) which he lived throughout his blessed life.
And from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
The Prophet (ﷺ) did not eat at a table till he died, and he did not eat a thin nicely baked wheat bread till he died.
لم يأكل النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم على خوان حتى مات ولم يأكل خبزا مرققا حتى ماتnor had he ever seen a roasted sheep with his own eyes.
