Explanation of the Book of Foods-01b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: Ali ibn Abdullah narrated to us, Mu'adh ibn Hisham narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me from Yunus, he said: Ali is al-Iskaf, from Qatadah, from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he said:
I never knew the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to eat on a tray, nor did he ever eat bread that was flattened, nor did he ever eat on a dining table. It was said to Qatadah: So what did they eat on? He said: On a mat. ما علمت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أكل على سكرجة قط ولا خبز له مرقق قط ولا أكل على خوان قط قيل لقتادة فعلام كانوا يأكلون ؟ قال: على السفر

The Shaykh : Now, look, they explain these words. Flattened bread does not need explanation; it is the bread they call the well-known flatbread, which he did not eat. As for eating on a dining table, yes.
