Explanation of the hadith of Asma'ah ibn Shuraykh (may Allah be pleased with him): (

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Let us move on to the hadith that follows it, which is authentic in its chain of narration. The author (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates it from Asma'ah ibn Shuraykh, who said: "I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when the Bedouins came, a large number of people from here and there. The people fell silent and did not speak, except for them. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is there any hardship for us in such and such, in matters of the people that are not harmful?' He said:
Servants of Allah! Allah has removed difficulty except in a case where a man slanders someone unjustly - that is the one who is in difficulty and destroyed.
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:33
. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, do we seek medical treatment?' He said:
'Yes, servants of Allah,' he replied, 'you can make use of medical treatment. Allah Almighty did not create an illness but that He made a cure for it - except for one disease.'
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:33
. They said: 'And what is it, O Messenger of Allah?' He said:
Old age.
. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is the best thing given to a person?' He said:
Good character.
."
In this hadith, too, there are numerous benefits that the Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) gathered while advising the Bedouins. We all know that the Bedouins possess sincerity, but they also have ignorance and heedlessness regarding many matters of the Shari'ah. It is their custom to shout in their speech and be blunt. Asma'ah ibn Shuraykh, who was one of the Companions of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), said: "I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when the Bedouins came, a large number of people from here and there." That is, the Bedouins were a large group coming to the Messenger (peace be upon him) from every direction. When they arrived, the people who were with the Prophet fell silent, and no one spoke except the Bedouins. They began asking the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) various questions, saying: "O Messenger of Allah, is there any hardship for us in such and such, in matters of the people?" That is, their questions concerned certain incidents that happen to people. A hadith like this reminds me of what came in "Sahih al-Bukhari": ... (peace and blessings be upon him) during the Farewell Pilgrimage, at the stoning of the pillars on the Day of Sacrifice. People came to him asking various questions similar to those of those Bedouins. One person said: "O Messenger of Allah, I performed the circumambulation of the Ka'bah before I stoned the pillars." He said: لا حرج There is no harm.. Another said: "O Messenger of Allah, I slaughtered before I stoned the pillars." The Messenger (peace be upon him) said: لا حرج There is no harm.. And so the Messenger's (peace be upon him) response regarding the advancing or delaying of the rites, and not organizing or arranging them according to what came in the Sunnah, was that he would say to them (peace be upon him): لا حرج لا حرج No harm will come; no harm will comeSunan Abi Dawud 2015, meaning there is no harm in a pilgrim advancing some of the rites over others, even though it is better for him to perform them as the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) performed them. It appears that the Messenger's (peace be upon him) response to the Bedouins, Servants of Allah! Allah has removed difficultyAl-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:33, seems to hint in such a response that he is telling the Bedouins: "Ask about what is more important than these matters that happen to a person without the intention of opposing the Shari'ah. Why did you not ask about what Allah has forbidden for you?" He said (peace be upon him): يا عباد الله ، وضع الله الحرج Servants of Allah! Allah has removed difficultyAl-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:33. Hardship is anything that, if a person does it, he is afflicted with distress. And distress is removed by the explicit text of the Noble Qur'an when He (Mighty and Majestic) said: وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty[Al-Hajj 22:78]. But if a Muslim sits and disparages the honor of his Muslim brother, whether male or female, and he is able to stay away from this sin, then that is where the hardship lies, and in that lies destruction. Therefore, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the Bedouins: يا عباد الله ، وضع الله الحرج إلا Servants of Allah! Allah has removed difficulty exceptAl-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:33. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) makes an exception, so hardship is not removed regarding لامرئٍ اقترض امرأً ظلمًا for a man who cuts out a man unjustly. "Iqtarada" means to cut off; a loan is a cutting off. "He cut off a person unjustly"—how is this said? Except for a person who cut off a person unjustly, meaning he cut, that is, from his flesh. This is an allusion to backbiting. So his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): وضع الله الحرج إلا امرأ اقترض امرأ ظلمًا فذاك الذي حرج وهلك Allah has removed difficulty except in a case where a man slanders someone unjustly - that is the one who is in difficulty and destroyed.Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:33, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in his saying: اقترض cuts out, refers to the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic): يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اجْتَنِبُوا كَثِيرًا مِنَ الظَّنِّ إِنَّ بَعْضَ الظَّنِّ إِثْمٌ وَلَا تَجَسَّسُوا وَلَا يَغْتَبْ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ لَحْمَ أَخِيهِ مَيْتًا فَكَرِهْتُمُوهُ O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it[Al-Hujurat 49:12], Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead?[Al-Hujurat 49:12], meaning the one who wants to eat the flesh of his brother cuts it off from him. Just as our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) commanded in the verse, a very serious matter, which is that if a Muslim backbites his Muslim brother, his likeness is as if he cut a piece from his flesh while he is dead and chewed and ate it. This cutting that our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) mentioned in the verse is what the Messenger (peace be upon him) referred to in this authentic hadith: إلا امرأً اقترض امرأ ظلمًا except in a case where a man slanders someone unjustlyAl-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:33. "Iqtarada" means to cut off. How did he cut off? It means he backbited. So backbiting, the backbiting of a Muslim by his Muslim brother, whether the one backbitten is male and the backbiter is male, or female, as we have mentioned repeatedly: النساء شقائق الرجال Women are the counterparts of men.. So what is forbidden for men is forbidden for women, and what is forbidden for men is forbidden for women. So his saying (peace be upon him) here: إلا امرأ except for a man, except for a person, whether male or female, who cut off a person unjustly, meaning he cut a piece from the flesh of his Muslim brother. So this Muslim who cuts off a person unjustly, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says: فذاك الذي حرُج وهلك that is the one who is in difficulty and destroyedAl-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:33.
