Continuation of the explanation of the hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him): (… and not the one who is distant from it …).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh:
and not the one who is distant from it ولا الجافي عنه
: This refers to the one who is deficient in acting upon it. The one who is distant from it—people say, "So-and-so was distant from so-and-so," meaning he turned away from him. So the one who is distant from the Qur'an is the one who is far from acting upon it. Therefore, the carrier of the Qur'an, the one who memorizes the Qur'an, who is considered to have honored and respected Allah (Mighty and Majestic) by honoring and respecting Him, is subject to two conditions: The first is that he not interpret the Qur'an in a way that negates its true meanings and attributes to it meanings it does not bear. The other attribute or condition is that he be knowledgeable of the Qur'an and not distant from it, nor leave off acting upon it. And with great regret, if we find a reader who acts upon the Qur'an, for example, by not considering lawful what Allah has forbidden, if we find this, we do not find the one who memorizes the Qur'an who does not exaggerate in it, meaning: he does not interpret it with an incorrect interpretation. If we find righteous among the memorizers, we do not find among the memorizers one who does not interpret the Qur'an with a false interpretation. Therefore, the possession of these two attributes by the memorizer of the Qur'an in this time is rare and very rare.
