Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner, Abdullah Abu Amr from Ar-Ramtha, Jordan, has a set of questions. He says: O honorable Shaykh, may Allah preserve you, I am suffering from a problem that causes me worry, which is that after leaving the restroom, may Allah reward you, I feel and sense drops of urine coming out during the ablution or during the prayer, or before that, or after that. They continue for up to half an hour, then these drops stop and dry up completely. I have been suffering from this condition for years, and I have sought treatment, but the treatment did not help. My question, O honorable Shaykh, consists of three parts: Is my ablution and prayer valid, or must I wait until the drops dry up? I know that they dry up and stop after half an hour, but this waiting is difficult for me and causes me embarrassment at times.

The Shaykh : First, we should ask about the cause that necessitates such a condition. One of its causes is that some people, when they finish urinating, squeeze their penis, and perhaps they run their hand from below the penis along the urinary channels, thinking that this will empty these channels of urine. This causes these muscles to relax, and they may tear, resulting in harm to the person. For this reason, those who do this thing are quickly afflicted with this incontinence that the questioner mentioned. Also, what causes this is that some people imagine that something has come out of them, and Satan casts into their hearts that something has come out, so they go to inspect their penis and squeeze the head of the penis to see if it happened or not. This is a mistake. The treatment for these two causes: as for the first, its treatment is to refrain from it and not to squeeze the penis. When the urine is finished, he washes the head of the penis, and that is the end of it.
As for the second, which is the doubt of whether something came out or not, its remedy is what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he was asked about a man who feels something in his belly and it is difficult for him to know if something came out of him or not. He said, may the prayers and peace be upon him:
He should not return (from prayer) unless he hears a sound or perceives a smell (of passing wind). لا ينصرف حتى يسمع صوتا أو يجد ريحا
Sahih Muslim 361
This is an effective remedy, by the permission of Allah, because it is a prescription from a physician who is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
Second, what relates to the answer to this question.

The questioner : Yes, Shaykh.

The Shaykh : The scholars say that if the person with incontinence has a habit of the urine stopping after a quarter of an hour, or half an hour, or in a time that is sufficient for the prayer before its time expires, then he waits until it stops. When it stops, he performs istinja' (cleaning), then performs wudu' (ablution) and prays. Based on this, we say to the brother: strive to urinate before the time of prayer enters, in a time in which this urine will stop at the beginning of the time, so that you can catch the congregational prayer. And even if this involves hardship for the person, the reward is according to the hardship. This hardship will not be lost in vain, because it is a hardship for the sake of establishing the worship of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Whenever hardship occurs for the sake of establishing worship, the person is rewarded for it, as came in the hadith:
Your reward is according to your effort. أجرك على قدر نصبك
So let this questioner seek help from Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and be patient with the hardship that befalls him, and ask Allah for reward and well-being. And we ask Allah for him well-being and healing.

The questioner : Amen. May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : Indeed, He is over all things competent.

The questioner : May Allah preserve you.
