Continuation of the tape explaining the hadith: (I have not seen anyone deficient in intellect and religion who is more likely to unbalance the mind of a decisive man than one of you).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri said that when God’s messenger went out to the place of prayer on the day of sacrifice, or on the day when the fast was broken, he came upon some women and said, "Give alms, you women folk, for I have been shown that you will be the majority of the inhabitants of hell.” They asked, “For what reason, messenger of God?” He replied, “You are greatly given to abuse, and you are ungrateful to your husbands. Among women who are deficient in intelligence and religion I have not seen anyone more able to remove the understanding of a prudent man than one of you.” They asked, “What is the deficiency of our religion and our intelligence, messenger of God?” He replied, “Is not the testimony of a woman equivalent to half the testimony of a man?” They said, “Yes.” Remarking that that pertained to the deficiency of her intelligence, he asked, “Is it not the case that when she menstruates she neither prays nor fasts?” When they replied, “Yes,” he said, “That pertains to the deficiency of her religion.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)
Mishkat al-Masabih 19Muttafaqun 'alayh (Zubair `Aliza'i)
It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) stated in what he transmitted in the Book of Faith from the hadiths of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "The black people came and played in front of the Prophet (ﷺ) on the day of 'Eid. He called me and I watched them from over his shoulder, and I continued to watch them until I was the one who moved away."
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1594Sahih (Darussalam)
The uncertainty is from the narrator; otherwise, it is certainly either this or that. It was the custom of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) to address the men first after the prayer. Then he would go down to the women to admonish them and preach to them. On one of the days of the festival, he addressed the men, then went down to the women with Bilal with him. He admonished them, reminded them, and ordered them to give charity. So they began to give charity from their jewelry. A woman would take her bracelet or her earring or something similar and put it in the garment of Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him). And he said to them, among other things:
as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)
Sahih al-Bukhari 304
. It is known that the children of Adam are nine hundred and ninety-nine, all of them in the Fire, may Allah protect us and you from it—may Allah protect us and you from it—and one in Paradise out of the thousand.
I have seen that you form the majority of the people of Hell
Sunan Ibn Majah 4003Sahih (Darussalam)
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "This indicates that the females of the children of Adam are more numerous than the males". This does not imply that they are more numerous in every time and place. Times may differ, and the majority may differ in one country compared to another. But they are more numerous; the women are the majority of the children of Adam. When he said that he was shown that they are the majority of the people of the Fire, they asked:
They said: “Why, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “Because you curse much and you are ungrateful to your husbands”
. Cursing: meaning abusing. And you deny the kindness of the husband: meaning the husband, because no one is closer in relationship or more attached to a woman than her husband. She denies his kindness. And the meaning of denying the kindness of the husband is that she denies his favor. If he treated them well for the whole duration of their lives, then one bad thing came to them, they would say: I have never seen any good. So she denies the kindness of the husband and is excessive in cursing. And this is with regard to the gender, not with regard to the individual. For there may be found among women one who does not know cursing or denying the kindness of the husband. She is good, of good character, fulfilling the right of the husband, and acknowledging his favor, but this is with regard to the gender.
They said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is the deficiency in our religion and the deficiency in our intellect?”
When he said:
I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.
Sahih al-Bukhari 304
it means: that he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not see anyone more likely to unbalance the intellect of the decisive, rational man than the women. And when he said:
I have not seen any among those lacking in intellect and religion
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2613Sahih (Darussalam)
they asked (may Allah be pleased with them) about the reason, the reason for the deficiency in religion and intellect. But in this phrase
I have not seen any among those lacking in intellect and religion
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2613Sahih (Darussalam)
there is evidence of the strong influence of women on men. Because he said:
could be led astray
Sahih al-Bukhari 304
. So what about a man who is not decisive? So the woman has an influence on the minds of men. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not leave a trial more harmful to men than women, until the rational men are deceived by women and their minds are unbalanced by them. They asked about the deficiency in intellect, and he said:
Is it not the case that the testimony of two women is equal to that of one man? They said: Yes. He said: This is the deficiency in her intellect
. And intellect here means understanding things, perceiving them, comprehending them, and grasping them. So the woman is not deficient in intellect in the sense that she is insane, no, but she does not understand things as the man understands them. And for that reason, the testimony of two women is equal to that of one man. And in some matters, the testimony of women is not accepted at all, such as the fixed punishments, for example. In the fixed punishments, if a thousand women testified against a man for theft, his hand would not be cut off, because there is no place for the testimony of women in the fixed punishments. In financial matters, the testimony of a woman is accepted, but a woman is not sufficient alone. So if one man testifies and the claimant swears an oath, the judge rules in favor of the claimant with the case. For example: a person claimed against another person for one hundred riyals. And he brought only one man to testify to that and he swore an oath, the judge ruled in his favor for one hundred riyals. If he brought a woman, it is not accepted, because one is not sufficient. It is necessary to have two women. And if he brought two women, there is also disagreement among the scholars. Some say: it is not possible to accept two women alone, but it is necessary to have a man with them. As for the deficiency in religion, he said:
Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion." أليس إذا حاضت لم تصل ولم تصم قلن: بلى، قال: هذا نقصان دينها
Sahih al-Bukhari 304
. The man prays five times a day, and the woman is menstruating and does not pray. Which of them has more faith? The man, because he prayed five times for Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And this one did not pray.
If someone were to say: She left the prayer in obedience to the command of Allah.
We say: Yes. She is rewarded for leaving the prayer in obedience to the command of Allah. But she misses the reward of the prayer, so her reward is for her obedience to the command of Allah by leaving the prayer, not that she is like one who prayed. And this deficiency which is not voluntary, the servant is not blamed for it. And for that reason we say: The deficiency in faith is divided into two categories: a category for which a person is blamed and punished, and a category for which a person is not blamed nor punished. The category for which a person is punished: if the deficiency in faith is due to a forbidden act or an obligatory act, meaning leaving an obligatory act, then he is punished for it. And if it is due to leaving a recommended practice, then he is blamed for it but not punished. And for this reason Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Whoever leaves the witr prayer is a bad man, and his testimony should not be accepted" even though he (may Allah have mercy on him) does not consider the witr prayer obligatory.
The third: a deficiency for which a person is not blamed nor punished, such as the deficiency in the religion of the woman by leaving the prayer when she menstruates and leaving fasting. In this hadith, there is clear evidence of the difference between men and women in intellect, religion, and influence on the rational. And who said that? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), the most knowledgeable of creation regarding the Shari'ah of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And he does not speak from desire. And it is not possible in such a situation to speak with this great statement regarding women except with knowledge from Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). And by this we know the foolishness of those who want to equate men and women. For they are foolish in their minds, astray in their religions, and ignorant in their knowledge, because those who are making a fuss are either ignorant or not acknowledging the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), or they want to cause corruption, may Allah protect us from it. They saw the community—praise be to Allah—in this country preserving, stable, and far from the causes of trials, so they wanted to divert it from its religion with these false calls, and we ask Allah the Exalted to guide them and protect us from their evil. We do not call for sin upon them, but we ask Allah to guide them and protect us from their evil. So these people are a danger to society, a great danger, and it is obligatory upon the society to reject them as long as they are on these bad ideas, because even if they say: We are only reformers. Then by Allah, they are the corrupters, as Allah the Exalted said about the hypocrites:
And when it is said to them, "Do not cause corruption on the earth," they say, "We are but reformers."
[Al-Baqarah 2:11]
Allah the Exalted said:
Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters
[Al-Baqarah 2:12]
. Look at how this verse is? It has emphasis, emphasis by starting with "la" (no),
Indeed ألا
emphasis by what? By "inna" (indeed), emphasis by the separating pronoun
Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not.
[Al-Baqarah 2:12]
.
We ask Allah the Exalted to preserve the religion of this country in creed, action, and character, for He is capable of all things.
