Continuation of the explanation of the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): (… and beware of hatred, for it is the shaver. I do not mean that it shaves the hair, but that it shaves the religion)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, clarifying the effect of hatred when it settles in the heart of a believer toward his believing brother, such that its effect may be severe in the heart of this one who hates his Muslim brother. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) warns with the strongest warning, saying:
And beware of hatred وإياكم والبُغضة
; that is, mutual hatred, as it came in the hadith in "al-Sahihayn":
Neither nurse mutual hatred, nor jealousy, nor enmity, and become as fellow brothers and servants of Allah. ولا تباغضوا ، ولا تحاسدوا ، ولا تدابروا ، وكونوا عباد الله إخوانًا
Sahih Muslim 2558b
; so if Muslims hate one another, that is shaving, meaning uprooting, leaving no trace of the religion in their souls. Therefore, the Messenger (peace be upon him) says:
And beware of hatred; for it is the shaver وإياكم والبُغضة ؛ فإنها الحالقة
the uprooting one
I do not tell you that it shaves the hair, but it shaves away the deen. لا أقول لكم تحلق الشعر ، ولكن تحلق الدين
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:1
, and refuge is sought in Allah the Exalted. So in this hadith there is a command for something and a prohibition of its opposite: a command for Muslims to love one another, with a reminder of one of the strong causes for achieving this love in the hearts of Muslims. And the other thing is a prohibition of the opposite of love, which is Muslims hating one another, and that this mutual hatred is a legal cause for uprooting the effect of the religion from the souls of these hating, non-loving ones. And in that is a reminder for whoever has a heart or gives ear while being a witness.
