When the last ten days of Ramadan enter, is it recommended to abstain from the bed and sleep, and likewise from intercourse with the wife?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says:The questioner : When the last ten days of Ramadan enter, is it recommended to abstain from the bed and sleep, and likewise from intercourse with the wife, and what is the ruling?

The Shaykh : Yes, this is the i'tikaf (spiritual retreat in the mosque) that is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), from the hadith of A'ishah and others. Among that is her saying (may Allah be pleased with her):
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when the last ten days of Ramadan entered, would tighten his waist sash, wake up his family, and keep his night alive. كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا دخل العشر الأخير من رمضان شد المئزر وأيقظ أهله وأحيا ليله
So these ten days are among the times in which it is prescribed for the Muslim to be alone with Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) in the mosque, to purify his soul from what may have settled upon it due to his mixing with people, with wives, and with children in the rest of the days of his year.
