The Shaykh : This reminds us that the Muslim must choose a righteous environment in which to live, for a righteous environment either corrects a person if he has deviated or increases his righteousness. In this regard, there is a sound hadith with which I will conclude this session, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

The likeness of the good companion is like the carrier of musk: either he gives you some, or you buy some from him, or you smell a pleasant fragrance from him. And the likeness of the bad companion is like the blacksmith: either he burns your clothes, or you smell a foul odor from him.

مثل الجليس الصالح كمثل حامل المسك إما أن يحذيك وإما أن تشتري منه وإما أن تشم منه رائحةً طيبة ، ومثل الجليس السوء كمثل الحدّاد إما أن يحرق ثيابك وإما أن تشم منه رائحة كريهة

This is the likeness of the good companion and that is the likeness of the bad companion. Therefore, a righteous town increases its residents in righteousness, and a corrupt town increases its residents in corruption. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urged the Muslims to settle in the city, especially in the last of times. This is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
