The Concern for the Rectification of Hearts
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I hope, my brothers, once again, that you pay attention to the hearts, the rectification of the hearts, and their turning back to Allah, without focusing on the form and the appearance. The form and the appearance are water with which the fruit is watered, water with which the tree is watered, and with which the roots are quenched. So look: did it have an effect or not? I said all this because, by Allah, I witnessed today, between the adhan and the iqamah of the 'Asr prayer, a scene that I wish I had not seen: children being dragged as sheep are dragged for slaughter, veiled girls being pulled and led, and men colliding with them in such situations. It is extremely sad. I wish I had not seen this scene, and all of it is just to obtain the reward of an 'Umrah as a Hajj. As I told you, if one does not perform the tawaf that suffices, then he has no 'Umrah; he returns with empty hands, tired in body, losing money, wasting time, and with no benefit. If you were to ask this man, "Are you remembering Allah in your tawaf during all the rounds?" he would say, "No, I am trying to save myself and the girl from the crowd, and perhaps I will curse or be cursed, or push or be pushed." We must think about this, my brothers. What did we come for? Did we not come seeking good? If this good is in this manner, it is closer to evil. We should look, think, and not let emotion play with us. We must be rational, weigh things by the Shari'ah, and consider matters. We thank Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and praise Him (Mighty and Majestic) for making this fervent emotion exist among the Muslims, who come from the farthest corners of the world for an 'Umrah in Ramadan, whereas for years you could hardly find the gravel or some of the gravel filled with people. We have seen this with our own eyes: now, praise be to Allah, as you see, only about two hundred men stand for prayer, and hardly anyone comes for 'Umrah except rarely, and they do not even know that it is like a Hajj. But when Allah opened up knowledge, wealth, security, and comfort for the people, they started coming, but not in the required manner. I ask Allah for insight for me and for you in His religion, and that we worship Him as He deserves to be worshipped, as is obligatory upon us, and that we do not let desire overcome guidance, nor emotion overcome reason. He is Generous and Bountiful. May Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. This is a word I spoke when I witnessed this, and perhaps some of you witnessed what I witnessed or more. As for what I want to speak about
