What is the authenticity of the hadith: (He forbade combing the hair except when it is dry) and what is its meaning?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner :
Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) forbade combing except at intervals
Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 35Da'if Isnād (Zubair `Aliza'i)
؟

The Shaykh :
except when it is dry إلا غِبًّا
.

The questioner :
except when it is dry إلا غِبًّا
.

The Shaykh : What we had concluded was that it is an authentic hadith, and its meaning is clear because it is part of the hadith that says:
forbidden them to indulge much in luxury
Mishkat al-Masabih 4449
which is indulgence and a person’s concern with the grooming of his body and his clothes. So, although a person is obligated to display the effects of Allah’s blessings upon him, on the other hand, he should not pay too much attention to fixing his appearance, because this indicates some exaggeration in indulgence. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say:
Beware of excessive enjoyment, for the servants of Allah are not those who indulge in luxury.
:
Beware of indulgence
meaning: Beware of exaggeration in indulgence, for the servants of Allah are not those who indulge in luxury. As for His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He:
Say, "Who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things of provision?" Say, "They are for those who believe during the worldly life [but] exclusively for them on the Day of Resurrection."
[Al-A'raf 7:32]
this verse does not contradict the aforementioned hadith; rather, the verse is explained by the hadith, as is the rule. Our Lord has not forbidden His servants the permissible blessings within the limits of the established Sunnah. Among this is that He forbade exaggeration in indulgence, as in this hadith. And he (peace be upon him) said on the occasion of a well-known hadith—if Allah wills—you have it, when he said:
No one enters Paradise who has in his heart the weight of an atom of arrogance. They said: O Messenger of Allah! One of us loves to see fine clothes on him, is that arrogance?
then the second and third mentioned the sandal and the whip, and every time he said to them, may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him:
No, no, that is not arrogance
then he (peace be upon him) said:
Verily, Allah is Graceful and He loves Grace. Pride is disdaining the truth (out of self-conceit) and contempt for the people.
Sahih Muslim 91a
This is the arrogance of which, if a person has even an atom’s weight of it, he will not enter Paradise, as he (peace be upon him) said. This combing that is forbidden is in the category of moderating indulgence and moderating luxury, so there is no disagreement on that.
