Is there a detail regarding the forbidden return in a gift?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : But here is a question: Is there a detail regarding the forbidden return?
Answer: The schools of jurisprudence differed. The majority of scholars hold that the hadith remains in its general form, so it is forbidden for every donor to give a gift and then take it back. The Hanafis said with the condition that he is rewarded, meaning if a person gives a gift with the intention that it will be reciprocated with something similar or better, and he is surprised to find that his gift was in vain, the Hanafis said it is permissible for him to take it back as long as he has not been rewarded for it. They argued for this restriction with some hadiths that restricted this prohibition to the case where he is rewarded, meaning reciprocated with the like. If he is not rewarded, it is permissible for him to take it back. But these hadiths are not authentic in their chains of narration, and therefore it is not permissible to argue with them. So this hadith remains, from this aspect, from this direction, in its general form, meaning whether the donor hopes to be given in return or does not hope, taking back his gift is forbidden due to the comparison mentioned in the hadith.
