What is the meaning of the hadith regarding the virtue of the Friday prayer: (Whoever bathes and performs ghusl... he will have for every step the reward of a year of fasting and standing in prayer)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The hadith:
and sits close to the Imam and listens to him, and does not engage in idle talk; for every step he takes he will have the reward of one year, the reward of a year’s fasting and praying (at night).
Sunan Ibn Majah 1087Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The Shaykh : What is the question?

The questioner : What is the authenticity of this hadith? I mean, what is its explanation?

The Shaykh : It will be clear, if Allah wills. What is the difficulty for you? What is the part that is confusing you so that we can explain it?

The questioner : I mean, is every step you take toward the mosque the reward of a year?

The Shaykh : I mean, is it too much for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to bestow this upon His believing servants? Let it be so, but you should think about who does all these things to receive this reward. Hold onto the hadith from the beginning:
whoever bathes من غسَّل
.

The questioner :
on Friday and performs ghusl
.

The Shaykh : What is the meaning of "bathes and performs ghusl"? First of all, can every person do this? The answer is no. It is only the married man; because
whoever bathes من غسَّل
is an allusion that he had intercourse with his wife and caused her to perform ghusl. So this hadith does not include the single man, right? This is the first point, the first filter, I mean. Second: Does every married man on Friday manage to bathe his wife?

Another questioner : I mean, it is necessary, O Shaykh, that he bathes her?

The Shaykh : No, I mean he causes her to perform ghusl.

Another questioner : I mean she performs ghusl.

The Shaykh : Yes... I mean he makes her do what obligates her to perform ghusl, which is intercourse. Do most married people today apply this sunnah (recommended practice) such that he has intercourse with his wife, so he must perform ghusl twice: the ghusl for janabah (major ritual impurity) and the ghusl for Friday? Then the woman, in her turn, must perform ghusl. I mean, you see that this reward...

Another questioner : Excellent.

The Shaykh : ...is easy to perform, great, great, but easy, I mean. But the matter is not so.
whoever bathes and performs ghusl
And then:
hastens بكَّر
; who hastens to the Friday prayer?
Yahya related to me from Malik from Sumayy, the mawla of Abu Bakr ibn Abd ar-Rahman, from Abu Salih as-Sammani from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "If someone does ghusl for major ritual impurity on the day of jumua and then goes in the first part of the time, it is as if he had offered up a camel. If he goes in the second part of the time, it is as if he had offered up a cow. If he goes in the third part of the time, it is as if he had offered up a horned ram. If he goes in the fourth part of the time, it is as if he had offered up a hen. If he goes in the fifth part of the time, it is as if he had offered up an egg. And when the imam comes out, the angels settle down listening to the dhikr (remembrance of Allah)."
Muwatta Malik 5:1
to the end of the hadith, this is well known.

Another questioner : But O Shaykh, from when is the first hour, I mean?

The Shaykh : One Arabic hour; I mean: after the sun rises.

Another questioner : I mean after the sunrise...?

The Shaykh : That is it. Yes:
bathed and performed ghusl, and hastened and was the first
Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 4:415
. And then?

Another questioner :
and walked ومشى
.

The Shaykh : Ah
and walked ومشى
.

Another questioner :
and did not ride ولم يركب
.

The Shaykh : This confirms that he walked, confirms that he walked and did not ride. Okay... and most people come riding. Okay, and then?

Another questioner :
and approached the imam
.

The Shaykh
and he approached the imam
, who approaches the imam today from these crowds that enter the mosque? It is very, very rare. So do not think that applying this is easy, so that you would consider it great to have this large reward...? Praise be to Allah.
The audience: May Allah have mercy on you.

The Shaykh : May Allah guide you and rectify your affairs. Yes, anything else?

The questioner :
and does not engage in idle talk; for every step he takes he will have the reward of one year, the reward of a year’s fasting and praying (at night).
Sunan Ibn Majah 1087Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The Shaykh : He did not speak, not even in enjoining good and forbidding evil, while the preacher was delivering the sermon... like that. So combining all these characteristics is not easy!
