The mention of the seventh thing that breaks the fast, which is the drawing of blood by cupping, along with the evidence

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the seventh, it is the drawing of blood by cupping. It is not that cupping is the drawing of blood, but what is cupping? Cupping is the extraction of corrupt blood in a specific manner. Whoever wants to know this specific method should go to the cuppers to be instructed by them. However, approximately, the cupper comes to certain places on the head, between the shoulders, on the feet, or in any place they know, and he cuts it with a razor, then places the cupping jar or cup on it, and then sucks the blood. This cup is a small cup with a tube that the cupper sucks; when he sucks it and has placed this cup on the cut, it empties of air. When it empties of air, the blood is drawn out until this small cup is full. Then the evidence that it invalidates the fast is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The one who performs cupping and the one who is cupped break their fast أفطر الحاجم والمحجوم
"He has broken his fast," meaning they both have broken their fast by cupping. The wisdom behind it being a breaker of the fast is that drawing this blood from the body necessitates weakness and a decline in the body's strength. Therefore, we find that doctors in hospitals, when they draw blood from a person, give him tomato juice or something else, the important thing being something that strengthens his body. Since drawing this blood weakens the body, it is the wisdom of the Lawgiver that we say it is obligatory for you now, or that it is permissible for you now, to consume what strengthens the body, which is food and drink. For this reason, we prevent the one whose fast is obligatory from cupping except out of dire necessity.
