regarding breastfeeding: What is the ruling on shaking hands and kissing sisters through breastfeeding?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He asks about breastfeeding, saying: What is the ruling on shaking hands and kissing sisters through breastfeeding?

The Shaykh : The ruling for sisters through breastfeeding regarding looking at them, the prohibition of marriage, seclusion, and the status of being a mahram is the same as the ruling for sisters by blood.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Accordingly, it is permissible for a man to shake hands with his sister through breastfeeding, just as it is permissible for him to shake hands with his sister by blood. As for kissing, it is not recommended to kiss sisters, whether by blood or by breastfeeding. Rather, if he wishes to honor them, or if he has returned from a journey or something similar, he should kiss them on the forehead and on the head. As for kissing on the mouth, some scholars have strongly disapproved of it.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And he said that it is not recommended except with the wife only. There is no doubt that a person’s feeling of the mahram relationship with his sisters by blood is more profound than his feeling of it with his sisters through breastfeeding, especially if the sisters through breastfeeding rarely come to him, for they may be in the position of strangers to him.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Therefore, it is recommended to be cautious in shaking hands with them and in kissing their heads and foreheads. Yes.
