Mentioning the wisdom for which the two heavy communities were created, and explaining the conditions of worship.
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: All praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own souls and from the badness of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can mislead, and whomsoever He leaves to mislead, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. [Ali 'Imran 3:102], [An-Nisa 4:1], [Al-Ahzab 33:70-71], and after that:
Indeed, Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) created His servants to fulfill the obligation of His worship with true worship; as He (Mighty and Majestic) said:[Adh-Dhariyat 51:56-58]. This verse explicitly states the wisdom behind Allah’s (Blessed and Exalted is He) creation of these two heavy communities, mankind and jinn; which is worship of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). It clearly points to the invalidation of a belief widespread among many Muslims, whether Arab or non-Arab, that Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) created the creation solely for the sake of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who is the master of mankind by the text of the authentic hadith, does not need to be praised with what has no basis in the Sunnah that he brought (peace and blessings be upon him).
Many people have fabricated against him, claiming that he said: "Allah (Mighty and Majestic) addressed him saying: 'If not for you, I would not have created the heavens.'" And there is the other fabricated hadith, which some people of innovation use as proof for their innovation; which is their seeking nearness to Allah through means other than the names and attributes of Allah and the righteous deeds that all of this came in his Sunnah (peace and blessings be upon him). That hadith is what some people of hadith narrated with a broken chain from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "When Allah created Adam and he committed the sin, he said: 'O my Lord, forgive me for the sake of Muhammad.' He said: 'What makes you know what Muhammad is?' He said: 'I raised my head to the Throne, and I saw written on its pillars: There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. So I knew that Muhammad is the most beloved of the creation to You.' He said: 'Then I have forgiven you for the sake of Muhammad, and if not for Muhammad, I would not have created you.'" This hadith is like its predecessor in extreme weakness, even if it is narrated in some books of hadith, and its explanation is in some of my writings, including: "Tawassul: Its Types and Rulings."
The point is that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created the creation only to worship Him alone, with no partner. It should be known that the worship of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) is not realized nor accepted by Him except with two conditions:
The first condition: that it be in accordance with the Sunnah. If the worship is contrary to the Sunnah, it is returned to its doer, even if he intends by it to draw near to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), due to many hadiths on this matter, the most famous of which is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 1718a, and other such hadiths. Therefore, it is obligatory for every Muslim who wants to draw near to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) with any of the acts of worship to keep in mind that this worship must be reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), or at least from the righteous Salaf. This is the first condition for the deed to be righteous and acceptable to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).
The second condition: that the one worshipping Allah (Mighty and Majestic) be sincere to Him in this worship, not seeking behind it any reward or gratitude, nor any immediate gain. The evidence for this is the Book and the Sunnah; from the Book are noble verses; such as His saying (Blessed and Exalted is He):[Al-Bayyinah 98:5], [Al-A'raf 7:29] meaning: for Allah, the Lord of the worlds. And He (Mighty and Majestic) also said: [Al-Kahf 18:110]. The scholars of tafsir on this verse, such as al-Qurtubi and others, said: [Al-Kahf 18:110]; meaning: in accordance with the Sunnah. If the worship is not in accordance with the Sunnah, it is not a righteous deed. This is the first condition. The other condition is His saying (Exalted is He): [Al-Kahf 18:110]. And shirk (associating partners with Allah), as you know, is either in the essence of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), or in one of His attributes, or in His worship (Mighty and Majestic) alongside others. For this reason, it has come in some authentic hadiths, from the hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, a man from us fights with zeal (courage in defense of his tribe), and a camel that resembles these words— is that in the cause of Allah?" He said: . They said: "Then who is in the cause of Allah?" He said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1646Sahih (Darussalam).
It has come in "Al-Mustadrak" by al-Hakim and others with a strong chain that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:, Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:19 meaning: from the deeds of the Hereafter; so he has no share in the Hereafter.
The most terrifying hadith in this regard is what Muslim and others narrated from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:.
These three are the first to be cast into the Fire on the Day of Resurrection. Therefore, you will find that the matter of the one who devotes himself to worship, and the one who devotes himself to worship in accordance with the Sunnah, is in danger if he seeks anything other than the Face of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) behind his worship.
I say this in light of the good enthusiasm I see, manifested in your coming to this lesson every morning. However, this crowding of yours draws my attention; on one hand, it does not represent Islamic etiquette, and on the other hand, it may lead some observers to believe that this crowding is not for the sake of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). I do not assert this as a fact, but as I said earlier, it may lead some observers to believe that this crowding is for the sake of showing off. It was said long ago: "The love of showing off cuts off showing off."
Therefore, I advise our brothers with these two truly great pieces of advice:
The first: that they worship Allah with what came from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and that they be far away from newly invented matters.
The other matter: that they be sincere for the Face of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) in what they intend from the acts of worship—including beneficial knowledge—and this is a reminder, and the reminder benefits the believers.
Now, you may raise your questions.
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
يا أيها الذين آمنوا اتقوا الله حق تقاته ولا تموتن إلا وأنتم مسلمونO mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
يا أيها الذين آمنوا اتقوا الله وقولوا قولًا سديدًا يصلح لكم أعمالكم ويغفر لكم ذنوبكم ومن يطع الله ورسوله فقد فاز فوزًا عظيمًاIndeed, Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) created His servants to fulfill the obligation of His worship with true worship; as He (Mighty and Majestic) said:
(56) And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. (57) I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me. (58) Indeed, it is Allah who is the [continual] Provider, the firm possessor of strength.
وما خلقت الجن والإنس إلا ليعبدون * ما أريد منهم من رزق وما أريد أن يطعمون * إن الله هو الرزاق ذو القوة المتينMany people have fabricated against him, claiming that he said: "Allah (Mighty and Majestic) addressed him saying: 'If not for you, I would not have created the heavens.'" من قاتل لتكون كلمة الله هي العليا ؛ فهو في سبيل اللهIt has come in "Al-Mustadrak" by al-Hakim and others with a strong chain that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Give this Ummah good news of honor, elevation, and authority in the earth, and whoever among them does a deed for the sake of this world, he will have no share in the Hereafter

Then the fighter is brought and it is said to him: "O My servant, what did you do with the strength I bestowed upon you?" He says: "O my Lord, I fought in Your path." It is said to him: "You lied.
