The questioner : He says that he has relatives in the open desert and that they invited him to a wedding feast at their place, and that this was on Friday after the midday prayer, and that he was confused about going to them because there is no mosque for the Friday prayer or even for prayer, as they are in the desert and pray in the open fields, and there is no Friday prayer with them. So he went to accept the invitation based on the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) But he did not attend the congregation or the Friday prayer for the reason mentioned. Does he bear any sin for that? And he asks for reward from Allah the Exalted for you?
The Shaykh : If your going out to them was before the time of the Friday prayer entered, then there is no blame on you. But if it was after it entered, after the second call to prayer, then it is forbidden for you, because Allah says:[Al-Jumu'ah 62:9] You can pray the Friday prayer and then go out to them. Either you warn them from the start and tell them, “I do not go out except after the prayer,” or you go out, and if you arrive and they have finished eating, you have still accepted the invitation. The important thing is that it is not permissible for you to go out to them after the obligation to attend the Friday prayer has been established by its call. But if it is before that, there is no blame on you, especially if not accepting their invitation leads to harm, such as resentment, aversion, or severing family ties.
