There are books written on the names of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and their authors differ in enumerating the names of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He); how is this to be understood from them?

The questioner : Regarding the names—the names of Allah—I have obtained four small works by some contemporary scholars... I restricted myself to the names present in them; I found that they differ; meaning, this one has this, and each one has additional names, and this one... So when I gathered them, they came to one hundred and seventeen. All of them stopped at one hundred and seventeen, and they all verified their authenticity according to their knowledge. Meaning, this is also evidence that some of them knew and some of them...?

The Shaykh : This is correct, but in any case, we should note that those who mentioned some of the names, did they mention their evidence?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : And from the authentic Sunnah? In that case, the observation is in its proper place, but they may mention some hadiths, and these hadiths may not be authentic.
Yes.

The questioner : I mentioned in "Al-Silsilah" a hadith of our Master... (peace and blessings be upon him) that he prayed once a pre-prayer sunnah, the pre-Zuhr sunnah, and it reached four rak'ahs, and he sat between them for the tashahhud. So the issue that arises for me is, first, does this prayer completely resemble the Zuhr prayer? While some scholars justify that in the witr prayer, if you pray three rak'ahs, you do not sit in it so that it does not resemble the Maghrib prayer; how can this be? Then, also, in this same pre-prayer sunnah that was extended, does it mean that the sunnahs applied to the four-rak'ah prayer apply to it; meaning, like the Zuhr prayer? Meaning, in the last two rak'ahs, does one recite what is easy after reciting al-Fatihah? And is the tashahhud added to as mentioned in the Sunnah in the second tashahhud, the prayer and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah? And others, meaning, are they applied to it or not?

The Shaykh : What Allah willed! You have crammed many questions into one question; so that we can answer each question in your question, start by posing the first question, then the second, then the third, as much as you wish.
Yes.
