The questioner : Here is the hadith of the blind man who killed the woman... who was insulting the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); what al-Sha'bi narrated from 'Ali that a Jewish woman was insulting the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and reviling him, so a man strangled her until she died, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) invalidated her blood. This is how Abu Dawud narrated it in his *Sunan*, and Ibn Battah in his *Sunan*. Is Ibn Battah...?

The Shaykh : The book *Al-Sunan* is not well known. As for Ibn Battah, it is well known that he was one of the great Hanbali scholars, being a scholar of the Hanbali school and a hadith scholar at the same time. However, some of them spoke about his memory, so his unique narrations are to be taken from him with caution. But if he is joined by others in that, then it is either to be benefited from as one benefits from a hadith whose narrator is cited as evidence.
