The questioner: And here is a strange question; it saysThe questioner: After "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful," what is the ruling on the Friday preacher moving his hands and body and turning around, and urging the listeners to speak? Such as sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and saying "La ilaha illa Allah" and "Allahu Akbar" in a collective manner, like a musical choir? Does this invalidate the prayer or not? And what is the ruling on one who attends the sermon in a mosque where this is the practice?

The Shaykh: This question includes more than one issue. There is no doubt that this description, which came in the question, regardless of whether it is an exact description of reality or not, or if it is exaggerated, the answer is according to the question.
There is no doubt that this description is not befitting for any preacher, let alone the preacher on Friday; for the Friday sermon must be a remembrance, and as He (Mighty and Majestic) said:
when the call is made for the prayer on the day of jumua, make haste to the remembrance of Allah إذا نودي للصلاة من يوم الجمعة فاسعوا إلى ذكر الله وذروا البيع
Muwatta Malik 5:14
, and the intended meaning of this remembrance is teaching the Book and the Sunnah, and the intended meaning of the remembrance is not that the preacher says on the pulpit: "La ilaha illa Allah," and performs a round here. It is obvious that this is not prescribed. The sermon is for teaching people what is obligatory for them every Friday, in which the preacher considers what has been revealed... and what they need to be directed to and taught. And we have before us the guidance of the Messenger (peace be upon him), which is comprehensive for everything, and among that is his sermon on Friday. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when he would preach on Friday, did not turn to the right or the left...
