What is the ruling on raising the hands during the imam's supplication on Friday?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : We will extend the session because we want to finish the questions, if Allah wills. What is the ruling on raising the hands in supplication when the imam is supplicating on Friday?

The Shaykh : Raising the hands in supplication on Friday, like supplication on Friday, is not part of the Sunnah. The Friday sermon was legislated for the remembrance of Allah, as He, the Exalted, said:
O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah
[Al-Jumu'ah 62:9]
The Friday sermons are not for making excuses, because the sermons today have become lectures. They may be scholarly and beneficial lectures, but that is not the nature of the sermon. The sermon is a remembrance and a reminder of what Muslims need in their current time. Therefore, it is even more so that the Friday sermon is not a place for supplication, and consequently, it is not a place for raising the hands, neither by the imam nor by those sitting behind him. It is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at all that he supplicated in any of the Friday sermons except once. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the sermon on Friday, a man entered and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the wealth has been destroyed due to the scarcity of rain, so supplicate to Allah for us." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands until his armpits were visible and said:
O Allah, give us rain, give us rain اللهمَّ اسْقِنا اسْقِنا
He (peace and blessings be upon him) did not finish his words and his supplication before the sky became agitated with rain. The narrator of the hadith, who is Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), said, "The sky continued to rain for a sabbat, meaning a full week, until that man or another came, and the Messenger (also) was delivering the sermon on the second Friday. He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the wealth and the families have been destroyed, and the paths and roads have been blocked, so supplicate to Allah for us.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) also raised his hands and said:
O Allah! Round about us and not on us. O Allah! On the plateaus, on the mountains, on the hills, in the valleys and on the places where trees grow. اللهم حوالينا ولا علينا ، اللهم على الآجام والآطام والجبال ومنابت الشجر
Sahih al-Bukhari 1013
The narrator said, "The sky cleared until it was like a shield over Medina, raining around it but not on it."

The questioner: Allahu Akbar.

The Shaykh : Only in these two Fridays did the Messenger supplicate and raise his hands. From this, the permissibility of supplication on Friday for a specific occasion is derived. So if the imam supplicates for a specific occasion, he raises his hands, and at that time, the people raise their hands and say "Ameen" to his supplication. Has the time ended or not?

The questioner : The time has ended, but...

The Shaykh : Hmm.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : ...It is a clear matter. The imam is delivering the sermon. May Allah reward you. It is not permissible, as you heard earlier, to enjoin good and forbid evil, because it distracts from listening to the remembrance. Therefore, it is not permissible to remember Allah, nor to send blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, nor to carry prayer beads while the imam is delivering the sermon. The prayer beads that the meddlers fiddle with, some of the elders are accustomed to it, and perhaps they are not the greatest of its criminals, but when they walk, they carry this electric prayer bead that clicks.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : I mean, they fiddle with it while the imam is delivering the sermon, and this is not permissible.
