Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The honorable father - may Allah preserve him - , a hadith has been graded as good in al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah, which is the hadith of Jabir: “That Allah spoke to his father directly without any veil”; do we believe that Allah spoke to him while he was in the interval between death and resurrection, and may Allah reward you with good?

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that this hadith clearly indicates that He spoke, and we cannot do what the deniers of the divine attributes do, who interpret the texts figuratively until they take them away from their apparent meaning, and say: He will speak to him! He said - peace and blessings be upon him - , and he was the most eloquent of those who spoke the Arabic language, that He spoke to the father of Jabir - may Allah be pleased with both of them - , may Allah be pleased with the father and the son, He spoke to him like this, and he did not say He will speak to him, so we believe in the unseen as the Lord of the worlds said:
(2) This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah - (3) Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, ذَلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ هُدًى لِلْمُتَّقِينَ * الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:2-3]
and we do not say: How? Or Why? Because that indicates weakness in faith.
Yes.
