Did you deal with your father in exchanging watches or otherwise?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Did you and your father deal with each other in your work, meaning exchanging watches or something like that?

The Shaykh : No, there was nothing of the sort. I got married through my own efforts. I proposed for a wife, and my father did not intervene, did not visit me, did not congratulate me, and did not bless me. He would only sometimes come to the shop, but he would not enter the shop. If he said a word, it was perhaps as expiation for the sectarian hostility that had come from him. He said to me once, "I do not deny that I benefited from you." I was his youngest son, and I knew him well... because he used to go to the mosques that have graves in them to seek blessing from them, like the common scholars. So I used to say to him, "This is not permissible, Father, and this has such and such issues," and so on. As for the matter of authentic and weak hadith, he was not in that field; all the jurists... so he did indeed benefit; but his age and his social status among the Arnauts did not allow him the room to accept the position of his unconventional son in the eyes of the public.
This is part of the story of the beginning of my pursuit of knowledge and then my independence in it. The point is that "Al-Manar" magazine is what opened the path for me to engage in the science of hadith.
