The Shaykh : We reached the twelfth chapter after the hundredth in the previous lesson, which is "The Chapter on One Who Does Not Thank People." The author (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated with his authentic chain from Abu Hurayrah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: Sunan Abi Dawud 4811Sahih (Al-Albani). Several hadiths have preceded this one in meaning, and even in detail, from which it is understood that thanking the one who has done a favor is obligatory by the Shari'ah. This is done in two ways: praising him, and the other is supplicating for him with good. The Lawgiver considers this thankfulness from the one who received the favor to the one who gave it. In this hadith, it is considered as thankfulness to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), where He said (peace and blessings be upon him): Sunan Abi Dawud 4811Sahih (Al-Albani). Just as it is obligatory for the Muslim to thank Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) for every blessing Allah has bestowed upon him, so it is obligatory for the Muslim to thank the one who was the cause of these blessings upon him. For the cause and the intermediary, as they say, the lawful intermediary is not denied; it is not denied. So if Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has appointed for you, O Muslim, a person whom He appointed for you to present to you a blessing from the blessings of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), then two things are obligatory upon you here. The first is to thank Allah, who is the origin of this blessing, and the other is to thank this intermediary, this servant whom Allah appointed for you and who presented to you that blessing. So your thanking this intermediary person is part of the completion of your thanking Allah (Mighty and Majestic). If you do not fulfill your thanking of the intermediary, this hadith indicates that you have not thanked Allah at all. Therefore, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 4811Sahih (Al-Albani). Therefore, it is obligatory upon the Muslim, according to the detail given in the previous lesson, if Allah bestows a blessing upon him through this person, to reciprocate with a similar blessing. If he is unable to do so, then the role of thanking by praising him with good and supplicating for him with good comes into play. Thus, our Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He) raised the Muslims with this good upbringing: if a person does good to us, it is obligatory upon us to reciprocate with the same if we are able. If we are not able, then this other matter is obligatory upon us, which no person is unable to do, which is that we praise him with good and supplicate for him with good.
He who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah.
لا يشكر الله مَن لا يشكر الناسHe who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah.
لا يشكر الله مَن لا يشكر الناسHe who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah.
لا يشكر الله من لا يشكر الناس
