My child passed away and no prayer was performed over him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh: And upon you peace.

The questioner: In your question, O Shaykh, if you please.

The Shaykh : Raise your voice.

The questioner : A question, if you please.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: He passed away at the age of seven days, a week. He was washed and shrouded, then buried, but no prayer was performed over him, and he was not named either. What is the ruling in this matter? May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh: There is nothing required of you, but was he not registered in the population register?

The questioner : What?

The Shaykh: Was he not registered in the family register?

The questioner: No, and Allah knows best.

The Shaykh : How is that?

The questioner: Because at the time of his birth, he was ill in the hospital, it did not mean [that he was registered].

The Shaykh: No problem, my brother, this is an excuse against you. May Allah guide you. If he was born in the hospital, his name must be registered.

The questioner: He was registered, if Allah wills, but regarding the prayer, no prayer was performed over him. Should the prayer for the absent be performed over him or not?

The Shaykh: No, the prayer for the absent is not performed over him.

The questioner: And he was not named either, or was he named?

The Shaykh: My brother, he was named. You are assuming a scenario contrary to reality. He was named in the hospital and that was the end of it. As for no prayer being performed over him, that is possible. For a child, the funeral prayer is not obligatory like it is for an adult man; therefore, there is nothing wrong with this.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you.

The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh: And upon you peace.
