The Ruling on Doubt Regarding the Attribution of a Child

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This letter was sent by the sender (H. A. S.), who states in his letter: He married a girl he did not know, but he knew her uncle, her brother, and his friend. After a long time had passed and no children came to him, he took her to the hospital. She had an inflammation disease, and she recovered, but no children came to her. So he examined himself, and the result showed that his sperm was few and insufficient for conception. Then he traveled, and when he returned, he found his wife in her fourth month, and he is in doubt about this pregnancy. He wants to get rid of his wife in a discreet manner, but he is confused about what to do. We ask for your guidance, may Allah guide you.
Answer: What appears to us is that this child is attributed to him, and that the pregnancy is from him, and that the doctors' report should not be relied upon in this matter. Rather, it is possible that she became pregnant from what came from him of semen, even if it was weak. It was reported in the hadith:
Not every drop of semen creates a human being, but only some of it does.ليس من كل مني يخلق الإنسان بل من بعضه
. So the conclusion is that the child is attributed to him due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The child belongs to the bedالولد للفراش
. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) attributed the child to the husband and said:
The child belongs to the bedالولد للفراش
.
So he should not doubt this. Rather, the questioner should have a good opinion of his family and should praise Allah for the child He has facilitated for him. There is no harm in seeking treatment for more children. This child is attributed to him because he is from his wife and in his bed. The Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
The child belongs to the bedالولد للفراش
. So this is his child. He should not have a bad opinion, but rather he should have a good opinion of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) and a good opinion of his wife as well, and thank Allah for the blessing of the pregnancy. We ask Allah for him well-being and success. Yes.
