Explaining the importance of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) in the Muslim's creed, along with explaining the fruit of the one who unites Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The only advice I offer to our brothers present is to remind them of what can be derived from some of the texts of the Shari'ah, and especially from His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He):
Say, "I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed that your god is one God. So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone."
[Al-Kahf 18:110]
. We are those who adhere to acting upon the Book and the Sunnah and following the methodology of the righteous Salaf. -- And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings -- We have become known in the Islamic world, and that is by the grace of Allah upon us and upon people, but most people do not act upon it. We have become known for our concern with the creed in general, in accordance with the Book and the Sunnah and what the righteous Salaf were upon, and with tawhid (the oneness of Allah) in particular.
This is, without a doubt, a tremendous matter for which Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) has favored us, because it is well known that tawhid (the oneness of Allah) is the foundation and origin of faith, and that any part of faith or righteous deed benefits its owner nothing if he neglects tawhid (the oneness of Allah). This is part of the meaning of His saying (peace and blessings be upon him) in the famous authentic hadith:
Whoever says: La ilaha illa Allah (There is no god but Allah) sincerely from his heart, Allah has forbidden his body from the Fire.
. It was narrated by al-Bukhari and others.
Allah has prohibited his body from the Fire
has two interpretations and two explanations:
The first is that Allah has forbidden his body from the Fire absolutely, such that the Fire does not touch him with any harm, and such that he falls under the exception mentioned in His saying (Blessed and Exalted is He), the well-known verse which says: Do you remind me of it? "" Then ""
leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.
[Maryam 19:72]
What is its interpretation?

The questioner :
And there is none of you except he will come to it
[Maryam 19:71]

The Shaykh:
And there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed.
[Maryam 19:71]
- here is the exception -
Then We will save those who feared Allah and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.
[Maryam 19:72]
, so this is an oath from Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) that no one among the accountable humans and jinn is exempt from entering the Fire, and entering here, according to the most correct opinion of the exegetes, means entering; that is, every accountable soul must enter the Fire in a real sense. But here the righteous differ from the wicked. This entering may be accompanied by salvation, as He said:
Then We will save
, or it may be accompanied by punishment, as He completed (Blessed and Exalted is He) the verse by saying: "" Then ""
leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.
[Maryam 19:72]
. So, the statement that Allah has forbidden his body from the Fire has two interpretations and two explanations:
The first is that he does not enter the Fire in a way of punishment absolutely, and this is, without a doubt, for the one who fulfills the right of this beautiful word, La ilaha illa Allah (There is no god but Allah).
The second interpretation is that he does not enter it in a way that he remains in it eternally; because his testimony of La ilaha illa Allah (There is no god but Allah) stands between him and this eternal abode in the Fire. To this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) alluded in the authentic hadith narrated by al-Bazzar and others from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in which he said:
Narrated 'Urban bin Malik: who attended the Badr battle and was from the Ansar, that he came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I have lost my eyesight and I lead my people in the prayer (as an Imam). When it rains, the valley which is between me and my people, flows with water, and then I cannot go to their mosque to lead them in the prayer. O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I wish that you could come and pray in my house so that I may take it as a praying place. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah willing, I will do that." The next morning, soon after the sun had risen, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came with Abu Bakr. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked for the permission to enter and I admitted him. The Prophet (ﷺ) had not sat till he had entered the house and said to me, "Where do you like me to pray in your house?" I pointed at a place in my house whereupon he stood and said, "Allahu Akbar." We lined behind him and he prayed two rak`at and finished it with Taslim. We then requested him to stay for a special meal of Khazira which we had prepared. A large number of men from the adjoining area gathered in the house. One of them said, "Where is Malik bin Ad-Dukhshun?" Another man said, "He is a hypocrite and does not love Allah and His Apostle." The Prophet said, "Do not say so. Do you not think that he has said: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah," seeking Allah's pleasure? The man said, "Allah and His Apostle know better, but we have always seen him mixing with hypocrites and giving them advice." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah has forbidden the (Hell) Fire for those who testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, seeking Allah's pleasure. " من قال : لا إله إلا الله نفَعَتْه يومًا من دهره
Sahih al-Bukhari 5401
.
It benefits him one day of his lifetime.
; that is, even if he enters the Fire and is punished therein for as long as Allah wills of punishment for what his hands have earned, he must eventually come out of the Fire one day. This is the meaning of his saying (peace be upon him):
Narrated 'Urban bin Malik: who attended the Badr battle and was from the Ansar, that he came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I have lost my eyesight and I lead my people in the prayer (as an Imam). When it rains, the valley which is between me and my people, flows with water, and then I cannot go to their mosque to lead them in the prayer. O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! " من قال : لا إله إلا الله نفَعَتْه يومًا من دهره
Sahih al-Bukhari 5401
. So, this testimony of tawhid (the oneness of Allah), when Allah (Mighty and Majestic) favors some of His servants by believing in it with understanding and conviction, is the greatest blessing; because its result is that either he does not enter the Fire absolutely - and this is if he fulfills its right as we mentioned earlier - or, even if he enters it, he does not abide in it eternally with those who abide eternally; this is a very great blessing.
