Is it established that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Musa (peace be upon him) praying in his grave? And is it established that the believer prays in his grave?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Is it established that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Musa (peace be upon him) praying in his grave? And is it established that the believer prays in his grave?
It is established that he (peace be upon him) said:
I saw Musa (peace be upon him) on the night I was taken up in ascension, standing in his grave praying.
, and this is a hadith in "Sahih Muslim." And a more general text is established; and that is his saying (peace be upon him):
The prophets are alive, praying in their graves.
; this is a general text that includes the prophets. As for the believer.

The questioner : Where is this hadith...?

The Shaykh : It is in "Musnad Abu Ya'la."
As for the second part of the question: Does the believer pray in his grave? We do not have a text that explicitly states that the Muslim actually prays in his grave, but that is possible; because if it is established that the prophets pray in their graves, then there is no obstacle to the believers, especially those who were in their lifetime in this world facing Allah (Mighty and Majestic) with their hearts; so there is nothing preventing these believers from praying in their graves. And with this, there is a sound hadith that when the believer is placed in his grave and the angels come to test him, he says to them: Let me pray; so they say to him:
Prayer is before you الصلاة أمامك
, so this indicates the possibility of the believer praying while he is in his grave. But I, out of caution, have not found a hadith in which the Messenger explicitly states that he saw, even by way of revelation, or that Allah told him that the believer prays in his grave, as He said about the prophets. But this last hadith that I mentioned indicates the possibility of that,
Prayer is before you الصلاة أمامك
; meaning he is able to pray.

The questioner : Does the professor deny the hadith:
When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things
Riyad as-Salihin 1383
?

The Shaykh : No, his work for which he is rewarded is cut off... his ending is determined. As for work in the sense of worship, which does not result in changing the future life of this worshipper, that exists in the text of the Noble Qur'an.

The questioner: Go ahead.

The Shaykh
When a man dies, his deeds come to an end
Riyad as-Salihin 1383
, okay; is there no glorification in Paradise? Is there no praise?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : By the text of the Noble Qur'an.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : By the text of the Noble Qur'an, the believers in Paradise praise Allah (Mighty and Majestic) on many occasions; among them, for example:
And they will say, "Praise to Allah, who has fulfilled for us His promise and made us inherit the earth [so] we may settle in Paradise wherever we will. And excellent is the reward of [righteous] workers."
[Az-Zumar 39:74]
; so we cannot understand
His deeds are cut off انقطع عمله
; meaning: a complete severance.

The questioner : Except what the Messenger explicitly stated.

The Shaykh : And we came to you with the text, we are not talking philosophy from our minds, we came to you with the text.

The questioner: Go ahead.

The Shaykh :
Prayer is before you الصلاة أمامك
.

The questioner : Is this hadith authentic?

Another questioner : Was it weak?!

The Shaykh : Glory to Allah! And you say to me this?

Another questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes?

Another questioner : Does he benefit from this prayer?

The Shaykh : What is it?

Another questioner : Does he benefit from this prayer?

The Shaykh : Like the people of Paradise, when they glorify the Lord of the Worlds, does it benefit them?

The questioner : ... the reward of the worshippers?

The Shaykh : Be patient, O Shaykh... the people of Paradise.

Another questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, we will answer... but you think a little about the answer to the question.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : That is enough, and this is from the same category, so does this person who performs a type of gratitude benefit from it or not?

The questioner: ... one ... .

The Shaykh: You did not answer me.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Glory to Allah! The Shaykh is very oppressed; he has to answer question after question after question, and so on until half the night, and if he directed one question, all the responsible people would think about it with this answer; why? I am asking you...

The questioner : The world... that is enough.

The Shaykh : This is what we said.

The questioner : He (Glorified and Exalted is He), when the martyrs asked to return to the world to be killed again, said...

The Shaykh :
I have already decreed that they will not return (to the world after death).
Sunan Ibn Majah 2800Hasan (Darussalam)
.

The questioner : So does that mean there is no other work...

The Shaykh : Yes, what are you repeating my previous words?

The questioner : I am not repeating your previous words.

The Shaykh : Then what are you doing?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : ... .

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Now you answered that there is no contradiction; you said: this is praise of gratitude, where is the contradiction? Prayer of gratitude, praise of gratitude, glorification of gratitude, as he (peace be upon him) said when they said to him (peace be upon him) that he stood until his feet were cracked; they said: Allah has forgiven you your past and future sins? He said:
Shouldn't I be a grateful worshipper? !
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 412Sahih (Darussalam)
meaning, does one just enter Paradise and trample it with his foot and that is it, he no longer knows his Lord? No;
Shouldn't I be a grateful worshipper? !
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 412Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The questioner : Okay; there is a topic of the three graves, I don't know, I mean I heard in the verse in Surat Yasin:
O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?" [The reply will be], "This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth." يَاوَيْلَنَا مَنْ بَعَثَنَا مِنْ مَرْقَدِنَا هَذَا مَا وَعَدَ الرَّحْمَنُ وَصَدَقَ الْمُرْسَلُونَ
[Ya-Sin 36:52]
this indicates that... meaning he does not feel even what? He rises from the bier.

The Shaykh : He does not feel what?

The questioner : What is around him, I mean.

The Shaykh : What is around him.

The questioner : Meaning he died a death...

The Shaykh : Where did you get this understanding from? Meaning now you have sentenced this dead person who died to execution completely; meaning as if he was a body without a soul, his soul died, whether he was righteous or wicked, whether he was a believer or a disbeliever.

The questioner : ... exists.

The Shaykh : It exists, and do you not feel that the soul is connected to something, neither to bliss nor to torment?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : So how do you mention the previous verse, does it not contradict these facts? Where was the energy opened for him, if he is from the people of Paradise, he sees his place in Paradise, so he continues to enjoy its spirit, its breeze, and its bliss until the Hour stands, and in some hadiths
My Lord, establish the Hour.
as much as he expanded in the place prepared for him
My Lord, establish the Hour.
, and that wicked poor disbeliever or open sinner sees his place from the Fire, so its breeze, smoke, and flame come to him, and it is said: This is your place when the Hour stands, so he says:
My Lord, do not bring the last hour.
Mishkat al-Masabih 1630
; because he knows what his fate is, do you see? We deny all these things because he said previously... some people said that this verse indicates that they did not feel? They did not feel the material feeling that we feel, but the barzakh feeling befitting the life of the soul, whether it is a believer or a disbeliever; these are the decisive texts of the Book and the Sunnah for this fact:
The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening.
[Ghafir 40:46]
.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : ... what does
The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening.
[Ghafir 40:46]
mean? Meaning in the barzakh life, you say later, you explicitly say that they did not feel anything, then
The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening.
[Ghafir 40:46]
did they not feel anything?

Another questioner : Perhaps they said this from their emergence to the gathering place and...

The Shaykh : Of course he, he is so.

The questioner : Yes, this saying...

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : What does it concern us? You (if Allah wills) will die a believer, then pray in any form... what does it concern us now to pray there a prayer...? It is not a prayer...

The questioner : ... .

Another questioner : ... the form of the work that was cut off...?

The Shaykh : How?

Another questioner : The form of the cut off work...?

The Shaykh : The work that results in happiness or suffering, changing the ending with which he was ended, as he (peace be upon him) said:
Deeds are only by their endings
, so when a person dies, his work is cut off, he died with his good and his evil, this good does not save him, this evil does not harm him at all, he will meet his reward in the grave before anything else, then in the gathering place.

The questioner : Reality or metaphor?

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : Reality or metaphor, I mean.

The Shaykh : No, it has no relation to reality and metaphor, the important thing is that the abode of obligation is the abode of this world; so when he dies, his work as an obligated person is cut off; so he does not increase in nearness and elevation with Allah by the work of others if he is a believer, nor does he increase in evil by the work of others, his work is cut off except for some of the exceptions you know mentioned in the hadith, the righteous child and the like.

The questioner : One of the Shaykhs is saying that our master Musa (peace be upon him)... our master Musa at the time when... from fifty to five prayers... meaning the Shaykh Mutawwi' al-Sha'rawi mentioned that he argued with one of the Salafis and said to him, you are saying to me... his work is cut off; so this Musa is dead and Allah benefited us with him.

The Shaykh : He benefited us with him
That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.
[Al-An'am 6:96]
.

The questioner : Although he was revived... after Allah revived him...

The Shaykh : It does not concern us, we do not say that Allah revived him; because they are in their graves as said in the previous hadith: alive; meaning we do not say alive specifically for this Mi'raj.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : The prophets are alive, regardless of the nature of this life, and that it is not like the life of this world; it is a life in the barzakh (the interval between death and resurrection). The important thing is that when the text comes, one must submit to it. However, it is not permissible to build inferences and legal rulings, as you are now quoting from al-Sha'rawi, that Allah benefited us with Musa (Moses); yes, Allah benefited us with Musa by the decree of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Therefore, the fifty prayers that were reduced to five must remain five, whether the conversation took place between Musa (peace be upon him) and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) or not.
Finally, I say: al-Sha'rawi's words may be addressed to some people who do not have mature knowledge, but they do not refute what we said previously. We said that when a person dies, his deeds that increase his nearness to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) are cut off. However, it is not the case that deeds are absolutely cut off from him. The least thing is that he sees his place in Paradise; is this not a deed? The least thing is that he sees his place in Hellfire, may Allah protect us from it; this is a deed, let alone prayer, standing, bowing, and prostration, or the story of Musa (peace be upon him) on the night of the Isra and Mi'raj. This is, of course, not denied, because it is established. But that does not mean that the work which the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said was cut off has not been cut off. No, this work, which is obligatory work, is certainly cut off.

The questioner : Does the disbeliever also have a life in the barzakh (the interval between death and resurrection)?

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : Is the disbeliever not, for example, in his grave?

The Shaykh : It would be.

The questioner : So why was this specification made for the prophets? I mean, a person himself is in...

The Shaykh : ... but we agreed.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : We agreed.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : We were with him today, we were with him in the morning...
