The Shaykh : A questioner says: I heard one of the hadith scholars say: If one of you recites the Verse of the Throne after every prayer, there will be no barrier between him and Paradise, and that the Angel of Death will not take his soul, but rather Allah (the Exalted) will take his soul; is this correct? Please inform us.
Answer: This hadith is half correct. The first half is correct, and the other half, which is that the Angel of Death will not take his soul, is not correct. The first half is authentic in "Sunan al-Nasa'i al-Kubra" and "Amal al-Yawm wa al-Laylah" by Ibn al-Sunni, and in other books of the Sunnah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
Whoever recites the Verse of the Throne after every obligatory prayer, nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death. مَن قرأ دبرَ كلِّ صلاة مكتوبة آية الكرسي لم يمنَعْه من دخول الجنة إلا أن يموت
. This hadith with this amount is an authentic hadith, but the rest of it is weak and not authentic.
