A story about the absurdities and fabrications of the Sufis and their claimed miracles that took place in Aleppo.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : There was a noble man in Aleppo whom they wanted to appoint as the imam of a mosque, so they sent for him to test him. The examiner asked him: Do you believe in the miracles of the awliya (close friends of Allah)? He asked this question because it had reached his ears that this imam, or the candidate for the imamate, was a man who, as they say today, is a "Wahhabi"; meaning he does not believe in the claimed miracles. So he wanted to test him. The one being tested was clever, and he said to him: Like what? He said to him: Like what our Shaykh told us about a preacher who went up on the minbar (the pulpit), and while he was delivering the khutbah (the sermon), he was informed by one of his students that he needed to relieve himself; meaning he was "constipated." The student was sitting listening to the Shaykh's sermon, embarrassed that he would have to withdraw among all the people and draw everyone's attention. So the Shaykh, the preacher, extended his hand like this, and you know the Shaykhs' robes are wide, and gestured to him like this. He says: So the student entered the Shaykh's sleeve, and there he found a garden, and in it a place—the place of relief, meaning the toilet—so he relieved himself, then returned to his place. He said to him: As for this miracle, I do not believe in it, by Allah!!
So this is a noble man who is being tested with this superstition and this absurdity.
