The Position of the People of the Sunnah and the Community Regarding the Miracles of the Saints

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner : Our sister also asks about an important topic, especially in our present time, O Shaykh. She asks Your Eminence about the miracles (karamat) that Allah grants to His righteous close friends (awliya). She mentions various things and would like you to address this matter. Is there evidence that some people have a specific miracle? And are there proofs that establish that this person has a miracle, or otherwise, how did such things happen? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Shaykh : The miracles of the awliya are established among the people of the Sunnah and the community. It is part of the creed of the people of the Sunnah and the community to believe in the miracles of the awliya and that they are true. They are supernatural events that Allah creates for some of His awliya, either out of a need they have, or to establish the argument against the enemy, against the enemies of Allah, to support the religion and establish the command of Allah. Thus, they are for the believing awliya of Allah, sometimes for their need, such as Allah making food easy for him when he is hungry, or drink when he is thirsty, without it being known where it came from, or in a place far from food and drink, or the like. Or a blessing in food that is evident, or other supernatural events. The criterion in this is that the person is upright upon the Book and the Sunnah. Such a supernatural event is not considered a miracle unless the person is known for his uprightness upon the religion of Allah and His Messenger.
The Shaykh : As for one who deviates from the Shari'ah, it is not a miracle, but rather it is from the supernatural acts of the devils and the trials of the devils. The miracle is only for the believing awliya of Allah who are known for their uprightness upon the religion of Allah and following His Shari'ah. What Allah makes a supernatural exception for them is called a miracle. Among this is the story of what happened to al-Ṣiddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the food he served to his guests. Every time they took a bite, more food increased from beneath it, until they finished eating, and the food remained more than it was before. This is from the signs of Allah.
The Shaykh : And among this is what happened to 'Abd ibn Bishr and Asid ibn Hudhayr in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When they left him on a dark night, their whips illuminated for them in the darkness. When each one returned to his house, his whip illuminated for him until he reached his house. This is from the miracles of Allah for His awliya. And so is what is similar to this that happens to the awliya of Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good. So, the miracle for some of Allah's creation is real, and it is not one of the things that some people mention, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh: The miracle, as mentioned previously, is a supernatural occurrence for all the believing awliya of Allah when they have need of it, such as hunger, thirst, or the like. They find food and water in a place where they do not see it existing, so Allah makes it easy for them without apparent causes. Or it is to establish the argument against the enemies, so that it is known that this religion is the truth, and that what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) brought is the truth, just as the miracles of the Prophets (peace and blessings be upon them) establish that they are Messengers of Allah. For example, the she-camel of Salih, the great Qur'an as a miracle for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the springing of water from between his fingers (peace and blessings be upon him). These are the miracles of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as well as the splitting of the moon, and the like. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
