Did it reach us from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said to a man whose wife was a wicked woman: “Divorce her”?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Did it reach us from him (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he said to a man whose wife was a wicked woman:
Divorce her طلِّقها
?
A hadith like this does not exist. However, the questioner is referring to a hadith that he misunderstood and then recorded incorrectly. The hadith he is referring to is what al-Nasa'i and others narrated, that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and said, “O Messenger of Allah, my wife does not turn back the hand of a toucher.” He (peace be upon him) said:
Divorce her طلِّقها
. The man said, “I love her.” He said:
So keep her فأمسِكْها
. The questioner, or someone else from those who preceded him in this expression, understood from the husband’s statement, “My wife does not turn back the hand of a toucher,” that she was a wicked woman, or he expressed this with that phrase. The truth is that the man’s statement about his wife, “She does not turn back the hand of a toucher ,” does not mean that the husband thinks his wife is a wicked woman who gives herself to every man who desires her. This meaning is one of the most invalid things that could occur to a Muslim’s mind when he hears this hadith. This is because if the husband had meant to accuse the woman of this, he would have had to bring four witnesses, otherwise he would be punished with the punishment for the false accuser. We do not find the Messenger (may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him) concerned with such an accusation; rather, he said to him:
Divorce her طلِّقها
.
Yes?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh: Yes.
Mutual oath-swearing, yes, this is the ruling for the husband who accuses his wife. I made a mistake.
So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) would charge him and ask him for mutual oath-swearing. When we find that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) did not resort to such a request, we know with certainty that the husband did not mean to accuse the woman, but rather that she was a naive woman. She is a superficial, simple, kind-hearted woman who thinks well of all men and has a good opinion of them. Some of them may tease her with their hands, and this is known among rural women, particularly some of them. The husband may learn of this through reports to him or see some of it with his own eyes. Naturally, he becomes jealous of his wife and it is not easy for him. It appears that this man was afflicted with something like this. When he complained of his situation to the Messenger (peace be upon him), he said to him:
Divorce her طلِّقها
. Because the truth is that a jealous man is not pleased for his wife, no matter how pure her heart is and how far she is from zina and the causes of zina; he is not pleased for his wife to be in a position where men play with her through their cunning and schemes. Therefore, he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to him:
Divorce her طلِّقها
, and cut off the root of suspicion by divorcing her. When he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to him, “I love her,” he said to him.
Yes?

The questioner : When the man said to him, “I love her.”

The Shaykh : When the man said, “I love her,” he (peace be upon him) said to him:
Then keep her فأمسِكْها إذًا
. The command of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) for the husband to keep her is another proof that she is not a wicked woman, not a prostitute, and not a fornicator, but rather, as we said, men may tease her on some occasions and she does not notice their teasing and cunning.
Yes.

The questioner : Some of the exegetes... is this a correct interpretation?

The Shaykh : No, this first of all does not occur to the mind, and we have not seen any of the scholars come with such an interpretation.
