The words of the commentator on the Tahawiyyah, and his refutation of the Asha'irah in their saying: "He is seen, but not in a direction."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Listen to what the commentator says: "And likening the vision of Allah (the Exalted) to the vision of the sun and the moon is not likening Allah to them, but rather it is likening the act of seeing to the act of seeing, not the seen to the seen. However, it contains evidence of the elevation of Allah above His creation; otherwise, can a vision be conceived without facing? And whoever says: 'He is seen, but not in a direction,' let him review his intellect; for either he is being obstinate against his intellect, or there is something wrong with his intellect. And if he says: 'He is seen, not in front of the seer, nor behind him, nor to his right, nor to his left, nor above him, nor below him,' then everyone who hears him will refute him with his sound fitrah (innate natural disposition)."
