On His saying, the Exalted: ((Indeed, with Allah is the knowledge of the Hour, and He sends down rain, and He knows what is in the wombs))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... and He knows the unseen.

The Shaykh : ... and He knows the unseen.
Yes.

The questioner : How did it become so?

The Shaykh : For example, it has become known that tomorrow it will rain, did He not say:
sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow
[Luqman 31:34]
? So the verse means intrinsic knowledge; meaning that no human, no created being, without Allah informing him, is able to know anything of these four matters mentioned in the verse; by his own self, I mean. But by means of the intermediaries, by reason of the causes that Allah created and made easy for His servants; this does not contradict that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has specialized in the knowledge of the unseen.
For example, today in astronomical calendars, after a hundred years, it tells you: on such-and-such day, an eclipse will occur, and this eclipse is total, partial, half, and so on. How did he know this after a hundred years? It might have become dust by then. How did he know? Is this from looking into the unseen? The answer is: No; because the unseen intended is like what some exaggerate, meaning they close their eyes like this and discover things that no human sees. This is the thing denied that any human knows from the unseen. But if Jibril, peace be upon him, descended to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said to him: Your Lord is saying to you such-and-such; this does not mean that the Messenger knew the unseen, but rather he was informed of the unseen. Therefore He, the Exalted, said:
(26) [He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone (27) Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before each messenger and behind him observers
[Al-Jinn 72:26-27]
, so the...

The questioner :
Except whom He has approved
[Al-Jinn 72:27]
.

The Shaykh
except whom He has chosen from a messenger
, so the fact that the one chosen from the messengers was informed of the unseen by Allah revealing it to him is one thing, and his being informed of the unseen by his own self is another thing. Therefore, there is no contradiction between this verse:
(26) [He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone (27) Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before each messenger and behind him observers
[Al-Jinn 72:26-27]
, and His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He:
Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah قُلْ لَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ الْغَيْبَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ
[An-Naml 27:65]
,
None in the heavens
[An-Naml 27:65]
. The knowledge intended by this negation is intrinsic knowledge, and the knowledge intended is not the knowledge that is revealed to the one He chose from a messenger. Did you understand how?
Likewise, any other person who, by means of one of the means that Allah made easy for one of His servants, was informed of a matter hidden from others, this is not the unseen; because he did not look into this unseen by his own self, but rather by the causes that Allah made easy for him. If what you said about the doctor is true, that he was informed that this fetus is male, and indeed it was revealed when it was born that it was male; this does not mean that he looked into the unseen; because he did not know that by his own self, meaning without an intermediary, without a cause created by Allah, but rather from the causes that Allah made easy for His servants.
So the farmer, for example, when he cuts the tree from the middle of the trunk, he tells you: it is, for example, five years old or ten years old. The ordinary person is surprised: how does he know this? Is he a knower of the unseen? No, but by his practice and experiences, he has knowledge that every ring indicates a year; so he counted the rings and knew how old the tree is. This is not knowledge of the unseen, this is knowledge by means of the causes that Allah made easy. And it is said likewise that a person can know the age of any other person, whether old or young; and that is by counting the fine lines that exist on a person's nail, so every line indicates a year. So, don't do an experiment now that will expose you, saying: No, it is not established [The Shaykh laughs!]; because perhaps it is not clear. I do not know if the answer appeared to you or not, or if the doubt disappeared or not?

The questioner : No, it disappeared, but...

Another questioner : He has... a door, my brother, rest, rest.

The Shaykh : Something to drink, Shaykh, this is all that when he drinks water it becomes heavy.

The questioner : He wants to sleep, he is tired.

Another questioner : ... Sayyid Qutb that... Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, knows that the fetus before it is created or from the first month that it is...

The Shaykh : And before the first month, and before the husband connects with the wife.

Another questioner : Before a hundred thousand years.

The Shaykh : Yes, but what does it mean, what do you intend?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : That the doctor...

The Shaykh : What are we talking about then?

Eid Abbasi : No, his interpretation, meaning this disbeliever intends to respond to those objecting in this direction, that preservation is knowledge of the unseen, that Allah knows beforehand, anciently, while this is known after development.

The Shaykh : But is that it? This is an answer...

The questioner : ... it is possible to refer...
...

The Shaykh : Yes, but please go ahead.

The questioner : ... cut the belly... and saw the child...

The Shaykh: No.

Eid Abbasi : This is knowledge of the witnessed...

The questioner : So if a machine was found that sufficed him from this person when he examined... the woman; would it be knowledge of the unseen?

The Shaykh: No.

The questioner : It is a means, but the one who wants to know the unseen wants to know it himself without any intermediary that she gave birth to a male or a female.

Eid Abbasi : ... okay, the same verse
except whom He has chosen from a messenger
implies that the awliya (close friends of Allah) also do not...

The questioner : ... a male, he registers for her a male, she wants a female, he registers for her... one comes wanting... after three days and lo, his wife becomes pregnant and gives birth, she brings a male just as he registered, yes, and if they asked him why... he told them the one who wants a male, he registers for him a female, and the one who wants a female, he registers a male for him; the opposite, and on the basis that he wants to take the fee after the child comes, after the child comes.

The Shaykh : Meaning something guaranteed, assured, right!!

The questioner : And this is for the sake of the male, he writes the female, if a male comes, he... a male comes...

The Shaykh : This is the intended meaning.

The questioner : Yes, and if a female comes...

The Shaykh : ... writer, I am like this.

The questioner : Yes, they come and consult him, my brother, you are misleading me like this...

The Shaykh : By Allah, Satan got ahead of him!!

The questioner : Yes, by Allah, Shaykh.
