Guidelines on Night Prayer and Preserving the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Honorable Shaykh! Night prayer and preserving the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) are among the greatest matters. Some young people, especially the committed ones, have found it difficult to apply the Sunnah regarding preserving the Book of Allah and night prayer. Is there any advice or guidance for such people that would be of help to them? The Shaykh: I say: How did they find it difficult? The questioner: It is difficult for them to stand in prayer and difficult for them to memorize. So, is there any advice or guidance you can offer them? May Allah reward you with good. The Shaykh: By Allah, my brother, you know that night prayer is among the best deeds, and that the best prayer after the obligatory prayer is the night prayer,And the end of the night: (in which the Lord (Mighty and Majestic) descends to the lowest heaven and says: Who is asking Me, so I will give to him? Who is calling upon Me, so I will respond to him? Who is seeking My forgiveness, so I will forgive him). I advise them to taste the flavor of this prayer. They should stand in prayer at night until they taste its flavor, and through that they will taste the flavor of faith. As for the Qur'an, there is no doubt that it is the best of what is spoken, and it is the best of dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and it is the speech of Allah (Mighty and Majestic),And Allah has praised those who stand in prayer, where He said: [Fatiha:29-30],And Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Baqarah:121]. So my advice to them is: to take care of the Qur'an, and to take care of tahajjud and night prayer to the best of their ability,Meaning: If a person stands up half an hour before Fajr, performs wudu' (ablution), or performs ghusl (full ritual bath) if he is in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity), and prays even three rak'ahs of witr, and persists in doing so, that is better. (And the most beloved deed to Allah is the most consistent one, even if it is little).
