The ruling on what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did as a matter of custom
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Is a person rewarded for performing a customary sunnah? What is a customary sunnah?
What the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did as a matter of custom is not a sunnah. For example: Someone said: "Now I will wear an izar and a rida, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wear an izar and a rida, and I will wear a turban; because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wear a turban! We say: This is not from the Sunnah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only wore this because it was the custom of the people of his land, and therefore the clothing of the people of the land is the Sunnah, as long as it is not forbidden,For example: Such as it being long, or being made of silk for men; this is prohibited even if it has become customary.
And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and all his Companions.
