Factors Helping Youth to Maintain Their Activity
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
One observes weakness and boredom among committed youth, so we want you to clarify the factors that enable youth to remain strong after becoming committed?
The commitment that has come to youth is certainly pleasing—praise be to Allah—and there is no weakness in it; rather, it is, praise be to Allah, progressing. However, Satan may come to a committed person to discourage him from doing good or push him to do evil, and tempt him by saying that Allah will forgive him, and the like. It is obligatory for a person to be sincere in his intention and purpose for Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
And whoever seeks the heights stays up the nights
There are factors that make a young man active: The first factor: that he intends the Face of Allah and the Hereafter, for whenever he sees lethargy in himself, he renews his determination so that he continues in his activity.
The second factor: He should strive to keep the company of brothers who encourage him to obey Allah; for the righteous companion, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described him: (is like the carrier of musk: either he gives you some, or you buy some from him, or you find a pleasant scent from him) .
The third factor: That he not be overly impulsive in his commitment beyond what is necessary; for if he is overly impulsive and burdens himself with what is not obligatory, he will become tired and bored. But if he commits with regularity and follows what the Shari'ah requires, the general rule is that he will not become bored, provided he does the other factors.
The fourth factor: He should not be so annoyed by what he sees in his society that it prevents him from obeying Allah, for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
[al-Kahf: 6] meaning: do not destroy yourself by following in their footsteps,And he said: [al-Hijr: 94] , so if a person rectifies his own state between himself and his Lord, he should not let himself be destroyed by the actions of others; he calls to Allah, asks Allah to guide them, and knows that nothing of their reckoning is upon him, and nothing of his reckoning is upon them.
The fifth factor: Asking Allah for steadfastness; so he always asks Allah to make him steadfast and to help him.
So these are five factors that come to my mind now, and there may be other factors to strengthen him and make him steadfast in his current commitment.
