What are the causes that strengthen weakness and remove boredom among committed youth?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Now, it is observed, O honorable Shaykh, that there is weakness among the ranks of committed youth.
The Shaykh : What?
The questioner : Among the ranks of committed youth, there is weakness and boredom as well. So we want you to clarify the causes that make the youth, I mean, be in a state of strength after commitment.
The Shaykh : The commitment that has come upon the youth is undoubtedly a relief, and praise be to Allah, and there is no weakness in it; rather, it is, praise be to Allah, in a state of progress.
But Satan may come to the committed person and discourage him, discouraging him from doing good, or promise him that he will do evil, saying that Allah will forgive him, and the like of that.
And it is obligatory for the person to make his intention and purpose sincere for Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and whoever seeks the highest rank stays up the nights.
So if he intends the Face of Allah and the Hereafter, then whenever he sees lethargy in himself, he renews this intention so that he continues in this activity. This is the first point.
The second cause: that he should strive to keep the company of the brothers who encourage him to obey Allah. For the good companion, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described him:.
Third: that he should not be overly impulsive when committing, because if he is impulsive beyond what is necessary and burdens himself with what is not obligatory, he will tire and become bored. But if he commits in a regular manner and proceeds according to what the Shari'ah requires, then the general rule, along with doing the other causes, is that he will not become bored.
Fourth: that he should not be so annoyed by what he sees in his society that it prevents him from obeying Allah. For Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):[Al-Kahf 18:6].
Meaning, do not kill yourself over their footsteps. And He said:[Al-Hijr 15:94]. So if a person rectifies himself in what is between him and his Lord, he should not be destroyed by the actions of others. He calls to Allah and asks Allah for their guidance, and he knows that nothing of their reckoning is upon him, and nothing of his reckoning is upon them. These are four causes that come to my mind now, and there may be other causes to strengthen him and stabilize him in his commitment.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : There is also a fifth cause, which is asking Allah for steadfastness. He asks Allah constantly to make him steadfast and to help him. Yes.
